Hi Radcliff - thank you very much for your kind offer.

I have looked at Warden / Haydon and Chollerton twice.  But find no record of her burial, so am baffled as to where to go next.  Durham Transcript 'search' gave no help, but I did find previously death of who I believe was Husband -  Thomas

Thomas Holliday m. Ann Charlton at Warden 16 May 1756 he died 1789 buried St Cuthbert, Haydon Bridge

I have surmised from the will + the invoice which was with it, that she died between 1801-04 as probate date seems to be 1804 and the bill not paid till 1806.

The only contender I found at Durham Trans, was Ann (dughter of Matthew) bap. 4 April 1734
at Simonburn.

My tree is stuffed full of Robson's but barely an Ann in sight, and the will gives neither indication of location or age, which prompted me to ask for help.

I've pasted in below the transcript and original will

Was hoping it might trigger something I've missed - regards Phil

In the name of God Amen I Ann Holiday of Lipwood in the County of Northumberland, Widow being in perfect health and of sound and disposing mind and Memory praised be God for the same do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say
First I give and bequeath to my Grandaughter Ann Robson all my household furniture comprising of Beds, Bedsteads and other articles and utensils And also all such sum or sums of money as are or may become due to me on account or by virtue of the last will of my brother Amos Charlton late of Wardrew in the County of Cumberland deceased whether the said property be in the hands of John Moraley the executor of my said brother’s will or in the hands of Joseph Liddele of Moorhouse in the County of Cumberland Esq.
And also I give and bequeath unto my said Grand Daughter the sum of six pounds now in the hands of Thomas Coates Junr of Lipwood for the purpose of defraying my funeral charges and expenses.
And all the rest residue and remainder of my wordly goods and effects of what nature or kindsoever I give and bequeath to my said granddaughter Ann Robson sole executive of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former and other will or wills at any time heretofore by me made in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of May one thousand eight hundred and One

Signed, sealed published and declared by the above named Ann Holiday as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our Names as Witnesses thereto in the presence of the said testating and in the presence of each other.

Wm Oliver      Ann Holiday her mark
Jane Coats

Duly examined and compared with the original will this thirty first day of May 1804 before me Hugh Nanney  A Commissioner

Witness George Briggs

Together with the will was the invoice for the account from the Solicitor – Robert Mounsey - demanding payment dated 27 January 1806 and also the receipt for the thirteen pounds 11shillings and tenpence dated 1st February 1806 – the outside of which seems to be addressed to Thomas Coates, and re-addressed to Jo Junior Smith of Colwell.

Thanks Radcliff

I too think it was Thomas Holiday she married and he died 1789 recorded in Warden registers (which include Haydon) as it is the only one I found that fits

But I can't any record of her burial/death and hoped it might hit a note with a Charlton or a Robson researcher

Could I ask or some help please, (I've asked before in requests)

In a will left by Ann Holiday dated 1801, she named her brother Amos Charlton and her main beneficiary is her grandaughter Ann Robson

Ann appears to be of Lipwood, Haydon Bridge and Amos is of Wardrew which is in Cumberland -near Gilsland - whilst one Thomas Coates of Lipwood holds money for her funeral.

Would apprecate any help or assistance in tracking down anyone with a connection or explanation as to who ANN is, many thanks

thanks for all the comments, only had a poor camera shot sent to me, and it was taken a few years ago - no opportunity to scan directly, so will ask for another shot to be taken, and re-post next week.

Thank you for the comment re reverse image - I sort of question the ring finger - its really not at all clear

Could anyone help date this couple - they belong ( we believe ) to the Gibson family of Northumberland

The picture is I think, an ambrotype -  the image is on a glass plate, with the reverse blacked. and was in a small ornate dark wood frame.

If anyone could improve / help date by the dress I'd be very grateful.

thanks

Thank you everyone for your help

If anyone spots anything else I would be most grateful for anything else - I've got the census and the baptism entry, but it was the GRO I hoped someone would spot, so I could order a certificate and nail down the maiden name.

Thanks again

Phil
