Hi

Just caught these messages on Father Allan which I am really interested in as my roots are Daliburgh/Kilpheder, South Uist around the time Father Allan was my great grandfather's local priest.  I am reading a fascinating book just now which has a lot of information about Father Allan it is by Roger Hutchinson and is called simply "Father Allan" The Life and Legacy of a Hebridean Priest ISBN 978-1-84158-548-2 excellent reading of a wonderful devoted priest.

Hi -

I think these "Murrays" and "Boyces" are my ancestors.  My mother was Martha Murray Boyce Reid Baird (born in Barrhead 21.05.27) to Martha Murray Boyce Reid and James Baird.  My grandmother came from Dalry and had a brother (and I think an Uncle also) called Hugh.  I know that the family (I think the Boyces) hailed from Ireland.

What is your connection with this particular tree?

Hi

Given that Martha Murray (1853) married Hugh Boyce (1848), do you descend from this family here:

My mother was a Murray of Martha Murray's family.

Kind regards

Hello,
Just wondering if you have any information on Hugh Boyce who married Martha or Marion  Murray born 1852.   I believe he could be one of my Boyces also from County Down.

Best Regards,

Searching for my three long lost cousins whom I have never met, namely:

(1) William George Murray born 1938 (so now aged 69) at 140 Elder Street but living at 61 Uist Street, Govan, when married (Church of Scotland) in 1971 to a Chinese girl Geraldine Yeh Hoon Chee, daughter of Chee Ching Hai and Chua Hio Keo. William (probably known as Billy) was an Armament Artificer by occupation which, to you and me, is a skilled technician probably in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps.

(2) Anna McCourt Murray born 1942 (so now aged 65) at 140 Elder Street. Don’t know her married name.

(3) Robert Murray born 1947 (so now aged 60) at 140 Elder Street but living at 6 Elderpark Street, Govan, when married in 1969 at St Saviour's RC Church, Merryland Street, Govan to Mary Agnes Cassidy of 35 Merryland Street, Govan, daughter of Peter Cassidy and Theresa Hughes. Robert is/was an Electrical Engineer.

All three of my above cousins are children of William (Billy) and Annie Murray (formerly Kemp), of 140 Elder Street, Govan, known to be at that address in 1947. Billy was divorced from Annie by the time he died in 1983 living at 17 Second Avenue, Renfrew. He may have been with Elizabeth McTeir at the time.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

The 1841 census has Fanny born c1786 but, according to the IGI, Fanny might have been born Frances Brocklebank, baptised 06/10/1782 at Whicham, daughter of William Brocklebank and Agnes Walton who married 19/05/1782 at Whicham (when William was about 26)

I live nearby. Shall I take some photos of the site and/or get you information from the local Library?

Hi Judy

Could it be Flosh?

Flosh is just on the outskirts of Kirkland heading west on the road towards Skirwith.

I found it on Get-a-map. Search for Kirkland (3rd one listed) then zoom in
http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/getamap/

Also on Old Maps. Search for Flosh. then select Flosh, Kirkland, Penrith, then select the 1867 Cumberland map centre bottom and zoom in.

Hi Papamoa

I have a William Graham (b Hethersgill, Kirklinton, c1818), possibly son of Jane Graham (b c1776), whose first wife was Sarah Holliday and whose second wife was Jane Lidderdale. In the interim, he appears to have fathered children to his house keeper Ann Gordon.

Children of William Graham are (or appear to be):

John Graham b Walton, Brampton 1844 (mother Sarah Holliday)
William Graham b Hethersgill, Kirklinton 19/12/1845 (mother Sarah Holliday)
Thomas Gordon b Hethersgill, Kirklinton 30/11/1847(mother Ann Gordon)
Mary Gordon b Hethersgill, Kirklinton 04/12/1849 (mother Ann Gordon)
David Graham b Hethersgill, Kirklinton 21/07/1852 (mother Jane Lidderdale)
Jane Graham b Hethersgill, Kirklinton c1853 (mother Jane Lidderdale)
Sarah Graham b Hethersgill, Kirklinton 25/12/1856 (mother Jane Lidderdale)
Margaret Graham b Hethersgill, Kirklinton c1859 (mother Jane Lidderdale)
George J Graham b Hethersgill, Kirklinton c1862 (mother Jane Lidderdale)
Elizabeth Graham b Hethersgill, Kirklinton c1864 (mother Jane Lidderdale)

William Graham Snr was living at Leaps Flosh 1844, Yad Hill 1845, and Cocklet Hill 1851, all  Hethersgill, Kirklinton.

P.S. Spent two sublime holidays at Papamoa Beach, Tauranga, 2004/5 and, yes, climbed Mount Maunganui
