Do you have him on census prior to 1871.

Or they also suggest you can get it free  ::)

That would take a while.  I appreciate that once you have contributed 250 transcriptions or taken 500 photographs you probably have free for ever access but that is a lot of records.

I submit entries to findagrave but it is good to know that they don't charge people to look at them.  ;D

Their son is living with her brother in Liverpool in the 1841 census.)

A census is a snapshot of one night, he could just have been staying for a few days.

Have you searched the records of the church the son was baptised at for burials.

Who was the informant on his uncles death certificate

I can't see the Colne Times for that period on BNA or FindMyPast.  Have you tried contacting them direct

Family History Beginners Board / Re: Cannot find father of Roger Rodgers

It is possible that there is no birth registration for Roger, it was not unusual that early in registration.

ADDED
Going back to earlier posts you really need to be getting the marriage certificate for his brother John in case that gives further clues.  There is no obvious Roger Rogers on census that fits prior to his marriage and it does look as though Jonwarrn's suggestion that the family changed their surname could be correct.

The Roger Rogers born to Sarah in Madron in 1845 died the following quarter

Birth Sep qtr 1845
Rogers    Roger
Penzance    9   215

Death Dec qtr 1845
Rogers    Roger
Penzance    9   125
