Just seen an advert for the new series, starting October 12th BBC 1,   it didn't say the time though,  They showed a few of the participants, one was Jodie Whittakar, UK actress , and another is Liz Carr, another actress, the other lady shown I didn't  recognise

Oh, no!  And I missed it!  And I did ask the researcher to let me know when it was coming on, too! Must try and find it on iPlayer/Catchup or whatever.  Thomasin (Lawson) wasn't actually from Warboys, but from Eynesbury and she was married to John Fairey/Fairy/Feary/Farey, etc. of Easton, Hunts., so her mother was Elizabeth Lawson, who later married Richard Voss.  Elizabeth became the mother of naughty Louisa Voss - it will be interesting to see how much of her naughtiness was revealed in the programme.  I suspect that the father of her illegitimate child was also a Farey, but from a different Warboys family and as far as I know not related to my Faireys.

The show is repeated tonight at 11.45pm on BBC 1

Lucy    his widow  went  on to remarry  in 1926  in Croydon   and  died  in 1964  in Ashford Middlesex ,   Probate ( shown  on  Ancestry )  to  2  of  her sons  , one a hotel proprietor  the  other a clerk

Also, the fact that near the beginning the lady he was with said that they couldn't get back further because "civil registration began in 1837" - yes they did but surely there would be parish and other records to get back further.

I found myself  yelling ' What  about  Parish records   '   at  the   TV at that  point !!  lol      Interesting  episode ,  as  my  maternal grandfathers   side  came from Ireland to  Liverpool ,  and eventually   settled in Coventry,

Like RT    I have 2 ancestors ( father and son ) who  died     due to    accidents,  rail   though not   horse/ carts ,   one was a driver  of a  train  that crashed , though he  was the  only   fatality,  ( and  after  a lengthy  inquest    was  found to have  been   at  fault  for the accident,   his son died   35  years  later  in a goods  yard  accident

The Lighter Side / Re: "Who Do You Think You Are" Series 13, Episode #4: Cheryl
« on: Friday 16 December 16 01:28 GMT (UK)  »
I wasn't expecting too much of this as I'm not really keen on Cheryl's usual public persona.  However as often happens, I found it very interesting both for the history side, and for Cheryl's own reactions which seemed much more genuine than some of the screaming celebs we have seen.  I do wish there could have been more on both stories.  What happened to Caroline after the 1861 census?  Did Edith Annie and Joseph stay together after the birth of the twins?

So far this has been a good solid series.

Ancestry   has   Caroline  marrying  again in 1864 to  a  Robert Dixon    in Tynemouth  Christ  Church      Her  father was  George Biggs  ,   her 2nd  husband was  a  Mariner ,( 1881 census  has  her a Mariners wife  though  she says she's  a widow     )   Caroline dies  in 1903

... it also put paid to my suspicions that an ancestor of my husband's was not a granddaughter but a daughter  !
Does it really do that?  The original record only shows what a clerk was told to write ...

No it doesn't  show that ,   what  I meant was that the mothers  maiden name  was   the same as the  other  childrens  from the family ,   originally  I thought   that  the  child  was  from an  older  daughter        but turns out    Mama was almost  47  years  old when  she  gave birth   in  1867     ( her  first   born was  in 1839 )

The new  additions  are  great ,  !   I can see myself  spending   a lot  of  time   adding  info  to my  trees !!    it also    put  paid  to my  suspicions that  an ancestor  of  my  husbands  was  not  a granddaughter   but  a daughter  !
