Aberdeenshire Lookup Requests / Marriage Look-up to help solve mystery
« on: Saturday 16 December 06 10:05 GMT (UK)  »
Begging anyone to help with a marriage look-up between William Dinnie and Isabel Will on 225 February 1777 in Aboyne, Aberdeenshire. I desperately need to know if the name of William Dinnie's mother is on the record. We saw oon a site that he was the son of William Dinnie and Rebecca Burnett but Rebecca's gravestone marker says she was the spouse of James Watt. Aside from that the only marriage record for a William Dinnie born about the same time as William Dinnie1 is one contracted with Hallow Hurie in 1738. Also the only birth record for William Dinnie born in Scotland about the year William Dinnie 2 was born is in Orkney. I know that there can be two people with the same name but the children of the unknown Dinnie from Orkney, father of William Dinnie1 and the children of John Dinnie in Aberdeenshire is almost the same aand the approximate birth years are also very close. I have done research on divorce laws in Scotland and it says that until 1820 the only grounds for divorce is desertion and adultery. And if William Dinnie1 was married to Rebecca Burnett then how come he got married to Isabel Mackie or Mackay in 1763  and Rebecca married James Watt on about 1778. If the name of William Dinnie2's mother is on the marriage record of the Dinnie /Will marriage then that would end all this but if not then the mystery will remain. Please help we want to "give credit where credit is due" we don't want to make one woman's son another woman's son lol...
Thanks so much to anyone who would help.

Ancestry Lists all Scotland counties ion their database for individual birth, marriage and death collection. They don't have much, like julian informed me but it's a good come-on if you were researching on Scotland.

Jean,
Just one question about the 1661 census. How old is John Sinclair on that census? I was just talking to rellies and we think Jane's mother could be named Mary Ann. So the 1661 census data you found could be right. Errors in transcription are common in Ancestry.com.

Thanks Again.

Jean,
Angel of my genealogy research thank you.
I got the name John and Ann from Jane Bower's (nee Sinclair) death record in Australia. But then I don't know how correct that information is. The census you found shows all the children that were with the Bowers who sailed on Selkirkshire on 1884. Thanks so much Jean.
Thank God for people like you!

Aberdeenshire Lookup Requests / Re: GORDON WILSON
« on: Wednesday 06 December 06 03:21 GMT (UK)  »
Jean,
You are heaven sent!!!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!
Now all I need to check is if Gordon had a twin brother named James. I was informed that Irvine had twin brothers and his sister had twins in Australia who she named Gordon and James. Was going crazy about Gordon because the 1901 census search I did on Scotlands people does not place him in Banff and now I know why.
You are an angel Jean!!!
Thanks Again! ;D

Julian thank you so much for the help. It is very deeply appreciated. I hope I can help you somehow someday. I checked ScotandsPeople and there was a Jane Sinclair aged between 3-4 on the Dunfermline census. I just wanted to cross check things out before I purchase credits there.
Thanks so much for spending time on the look-ups.
God Bless You!!! :)

btw Jean Sinclair was born on 1856 and Jane was born in 1857. I am sure that Jane grew up and married in Dunfermline on 1876. Just in case John or Ann might have died before 1861 census.
