Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Radley in Rochdale, Manchester
« on: Tuesday 30 December 08 05:16 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Carole, thanks for that info. Where could I look for the marriage licence and for Radley wills? I know that Manchester came under the Archdeaconry of Chester but couldn't find any help on the websites of the Chester and Lancashire Record Offices (I'm very new to Lancashire  research). Knowing where to find indexes to probate and marriage licences would be a big help.
cheers

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Radley in Rochdale, Manchester
« on: Saturday 27 December 08 07:37 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, can anyone help find the births/baptisms of Samuel Radley and Mary Lees? They were married at Rochdale 7 Feb 1771 and their daughter Esther was baptised 6 Nov 1771 at St Ann Manchester. She is my several times greatgrandmother.
thanks

Hello David. That would be wonderful. I offered to transcribe the baptisms for East Stonehouse for freereg but the record office won't come to the party. The baptisms aren't on film except for the copies the record office holds (not in the LDS catalogue or available anywhere else except the record office). I'm not sure how complete the baptisms are either, couldn't work it out from the record office catalogue. I don't have any  details about Alexanders parents or siblings either. Yes theres a chance that Richard Dickerson and Elizabeth Johns are his parents or uncle and aunt.

Thanks for your help colin, I googled Johann George Wicke and found him in the german sugarbakers online index. this gave me a reference to his PCC will which I found on TNA documents online. So that was a happy ending and I'm now trying to transcribe the six or so pages of his will.

Please if someone is going to Essex Record Office could you do a lookup in an index to the Lambourne Parish registers (baptisms and marriages) for the surname Toudup, also spelled Tootup, Tuddip and similar, between 1780 and 1810. The ERO reference is T/R 212/3. The Lambourne parish register may be very patchy between 1780 and 1800; I'm not sure how much of it has survived. I've found some of the family in Romford and Chigwell around 1800 and my 3X greatgrandmother Sophia was born in Romford in 1804. and moved to the parish of St Botolph Aldgate, Middlesex where she married James Barker in 1823.  A few days ago I found Thomas (born 1761)  and Elizabeth Toudup in the NBI for Lambourne for 1832. I already know that this Thomas (born 1761) was born in St George in the East, Middlesex to Thomas Toudup and Elizabeth Crissup but I'm not sure how Thomas is related to Sophia who was born in Romford in 1804. I'm hoping that more family members will be found in Lambourne and that I can link the family that was living in St George in the East in 1761 to the family in Romford in 1804. Hope this makes sense!! Toudup is a very uncommon name and they're all related but making the connections is not easy.
many thanks

Europe / finding naturalization certificates 1799
« on: Thursday 31 May 07 00:41 BST (UK)  »
I have two references to naturalization certificates dated 1799 for people who came into England from Germany.  I know that naturalization certificates were issued  following a private act of parliament  and I have references such as L.J. xiii p.35 (for Johann George Wicke) and L.J. xiii p.71 (for Christian John Adam Witke) but I don't know what the reference refers to. Can anyone help please?
many thanks

Please could someone who goes to Plymouth Record office do a lookup for the baptism of Alexander Dickerson in the East Stonehouse baptisms.  According to the 1861 census he was born in East Stonehouse about 1799. I don't know his  parents names.
many thanks
