Hi,
Trying to track down details of Ancester who was Tried at Leeds in 1837 & Transported to Tasmania.
Where can I get details of the trial on the net?
Am in Tasmania and finding details hard to get.
If not possible, does anyone have access to these details & can let me know?

Trial was April 10 1837 and name was Thomas Trainer

many thanks

Many thanks Dave. Your a legend!
Have been tracking poor Mary's life for a couple of years now

I found where she was buried a couple of weeks ago.
and will take her some flowers in a couple of days.

Trying to track down details of ancestor that was born in Manchester 1826 & Transported to Tasmania 1844.
Getting details & confirming people very difficult from Tasmania especially with Surname spelling having many variations.

Hopefully someone in Manchester can assist.

Ancestor was "Mary Treanor". Trial was at Manchester Borough Quater Sessions, June 24 1844.
Any details from trial would be most appreciated.
1841 Census show a "Mary Trainer" from Primrose St Manchester with the right birth year. Not sure how to confirm if this was the same person.
Also a Birth Record from St Mary's Mulberry St Manchester of a "Mary Treanor". Would appreciate it if someone has details of Birth records from this church & could pass them on.

Also interested to find out what this area of Manchester was like around 1840's. From what I can Gather it was a very depressed area.

Any assistance would be appreciated and am very happy to recipricate with any Aussie details I may be able to help with.

cheers

Australia / Thomas and Mary TREANOR
« on: Sunday 01 August 10 23:24 BST (UK)  »
Am hopeful of getting some advice of what to try next in search of my long lost ancestors.
Thomas & Mary Treanor lived in the Southern Midlands of Tasmania through the late 1800's, usually running hotels in the area.
I have found records of their children but no records of their marriage, births etc...Convict records dont mention them.

Where to look?

hope someone can hepl

Scotland / Moore
« on: Sunday 02 March 08 11:01 GMT (UK)  »
Am trying to track down my Ancestores with the Moore surname.
Their decendants are buried here in Australia in the Free Scotland Church section so am guessing they originated in scotland.
Is Moore a common name is specific counties of scotland?

I have gone as far back as Francis Moore who died in 1912. was married in Australia in in 1859 but no record of his birth.
Am guessing he was born overseas.

Anyone with any ideas?

You may be right.
I can find no trace of him after his convict records finish!
Even searched in all Australian States!

He may have returned to England but from what I have been told this was very rare and discouraged.
Marriages before transportation were even considered annulled & most remarried in oz.

Hi pete,
Finally have a reply from tasmanian records office concerning Robert Drake.
They have sent me a photocopy of his "record of behaviour" whilst a convict in Tasmania.
They state this is the only surviving record of Robert Drake.
It is quite dark and difficult to read the script so I will scan it to a high resolution and try to make some sense of it.
I will send you a copy of the scan & translation in the next couple of days.

cheers

Mike
