Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Aston juxta Birmingham - Hinde and Moore
« on: Tuesday 20 November 12 16:27 GMT (UK)  »
I would be very grateful if someone could provide information relating to a Charles Jebson Hinde who married an Elizabeth Moore at Aston-juxta-Birmingham on March 31st 1839.

I suspect that this might be Charles Jepson Hind an elusive brother of my great grandfather who was born Whitwell, Derbyshire in 1793, and who disappeared from Worksop, Nottinghamshire about 1830 when he was last recorded there as a Boot and Shoemaker.

I suspect that his wife might have died before the 1841 census (although I can't find a death record).

It seems as though Charles might have married second Sarah Crump in Manchester on February 27th 1848 and can be found with his wife Sarah at 83 Castle Street, Bristol, in 1851, shown as born Whitwell, Derbyshire, about 1799 but with name corrupted to either Charles I. Hand or Charles J. Hund depending on which transcription is consulted.

If such information as might be forthcoming does not rule him out I will order the marriage certificate.

Thanks in anticipation.

Kind regards

Mike Clifford

Hello Trevor,

The transcriptions would be extremely useful.  I have a few for South Normanton that appeared in the Journal of the Derbyshire Archaeological Society but suspect that there must be more.

You are welcome to a copy of the revised account of the Derbyshire Revells if it is of any interest.

Best wishes,

Mike

Hello Trevor,

I have been researching the Revell family from the time of the Conquest up to about 1700.  My notes on the Revells of Derbyshire are freely available on Rotherham Web [rotherweb@blueyonder.co.uk].

I have scant information for the Revells associated with South Normanton and Pinxton, and they were certainly established there in the early 16th century.  I would be grateful if you would check your book for any references to them.

Thanks,

Mike Clifford

I have information on the Hind(e)s of Whitwell and Osberton.  Please email me on M.Clifford@Surrey.ac.uk.

The John Hind to whom you refer may be the one who married Maria Lowe September 8th 1858 at Whitwell.  His parents were John Hind (Master Miller of Belph (Whitwell) and Osberton) and Elizabeth Turner.

John and Maria subsequently moved to Cheshire.

Thanks for the email.  I would like to compare notes with you.  Our tree is on Genes Reunited, is yours also?.  If not, can we communicate direct by email?

The James Reynolds that you mention may be my Gt Gt Grandfather.

I cannot trace him for certain in the 1841 census but there is, apparently, a James Roynals in a household with a Mary Roynals and four children.  However, the James in question was a wiidower who just after the census (May 6th 1841) married Mary Ann Wright at Cainham.  We have the certificate, and the witnesses were Mary's daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Richard Houseman.  James Reynolds had died before 1851.

Is any one able to advise whether the James Roynals is in fact James Reynolds, and if so, is Mary his sister-in-law?

Any help appreciated.  Our full tree is accessible on Genes Reunited where we are registered as 'M'

Thanks,

Mike and Jane
