Durham / Re: Bottoms family - Co.Durham
« on: Sunday 16 April 17 13:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi Jen
Thank you for your message. I don't have Hannah Jane Bottoms in my tree but 19 Thomas Bottoms'....!!! - okay they do range from 1700's to 1930's. Keep in touch ( dollybeck @ btinternet. com ) with anyone else you have in the tree. My family came from around Middleton-in-Teesdale, Kello, Skeers. Thomas Bottoms (1804-1856) married Mary Johnson and they had a large family. Thomas was killed in a horse drawn railway accident so all but one son emigrated to USA so starting a dynasty in Pennsylvania...!!!!! Look forward to hearing from you.

After many years searching for my Grt Grt Grandfather I've found his death in Parkes NSW in 1894. I've obtained his death certificate which has thrown up several Queries, can anybody help?
1. The cert seems to have 2 sections, the death cert and burial details. The name on the death cert is correct but the name on "part 2"is different. Would they fill out the certs this way?
2. His place of death is Welcome Lead, occupation is Iron Moulder. I believe that Welcome Lead is the goldfield in Parkes, was there any Iron Foundries in Parkes?

I need a guide who is knowledgeable about the Australian Family History scene, can anyone help please.

World War One / Re: Regimental Number
« on: Thursday 17 November 11 15:24 GMT (UK)  »
This info will give me another area to search. He was shown on the 1911 census as a hotel manager in the premises owned by his mother. I don't know what he did after 1918 until the 1950s when I remember being taken to visit his at the Travellers Rest in Newcastle which he owned/managed.

I was under the impression that he was in the pub trade all his life.

Once again thanks for your help, no dougbt i'll be back for me info in the future.

Gloucestershire / Lloyd family from Newland
« on: Saturday 08 October 11 17:43 BST (UK)  »
Is anyone researching the Lloyd/Halford family who were born in Newland/West Dean? I know the life story of Milo Lloyd (in USA) but not his wife or his UK family. This is all the information I have;
Milo Lloyd 1840-1918
He married Ann Halford Sept q. 1854 Monmouth District.
It would appear that Milo abandoned his family of 5 to live in America.
1861 census of Newland, Gloucestershire shows Milo Lloyd 24 tin plate worker born Newland Glos. Ann wife 24; Elizabeth 4; Frederick 1; all born Newland Glos.

1871 census Berry Hill, Newland Glos. Ann Lloyd 35 washerwoman (husband in America) born Coleford Glos. Elizth 15, Fred 12, Mary A 8, Reuben 5, Oliver Lewis 2 ,

1881 census Ann Loyd 47, Charwoman, Frederick son 20 coal miner, Reuben son 15 labourer at Colliery, Oliver son 12 Scholar. Dwelling Joyford Hill, West Dean Gloucester.

If you have any of these in your tree I would love to hear from you.
