Armed Forces / Tracing history of a British Army landrover
« on: Friday 09 June 17 20:43 BST (UK)  »
Hi...

Does anyone know if it is possible to trace the service history of a military vehicle - specifically a British Army landrover.  I don't have reg number to hand but is possibly 1970s era.  It has an ID plate on the side with some numbers on it.  The owner doesn't have any army release papers for it but bought it recently from someone legitimately (not army )

Any thoughts welcome

thanks

Milly

Hi markamurff. Welcome to Rootschat.  :)

I have  moved your query to the main Armed Forces Board.

Going back to your original question... St Kevin's could be where he was born, or baptised, or even just where he grew up. It would be where he believed he was born and what he told the recruitment officer.

I will leave this in Armed Forces for now in case you have any further Army questions about him - but as aghadowey points out - you may be better asking people on the Dublin board for help.

Also follow up aghadowey's baptism suggestions.

Do let us know if you make any progress.

Many thanks for your reply.  Absolutely no hurry.  I was notified you'd sent a a PM, but I can't find it (perhaps because I don't understand how rootschat PM works)
Anyway, get back to me at your convenience
Thanks again
Ruth

Hi Ruth

If you look at the brown bar above and click on MY MESSAGES you will see all the PM messages people have sent you.

You also get a notification when people reply to the post on this thread so if there is no Private Message it may just have been that

I looks like a template is used then the soldier's photo is turned into a postcard:

Same template...different soldier.

As a postcard collector...I have seen many variations of these.

Happy to be proved wrong Ruskie
