Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: St Peter Sheffield - Beaumont/Langton

Hi Carole,
Thanks for the reply.  I know that is the general rule, but I've found that it could depend on the individual vicar.

For instance Skipton and Batley often gave not only the groom's father and his occupation, but the bride's too.  I can't get to Sheffield to check how diligent their vicars were.

Cheers, Sue.

Could someone please check the marriage entry for James Beaumont and Ann Langton married 1st October 1815 at St Peter's Cathedral.  Does the record show his occupation (hopefully corn miller), and the names of fathers of bride and groom.  I have found too many James and Anns, and am trying to confirm or eliminate this one.

Thanks, Sue.

Hi
I'm going to Leeds Library next week to look up some of my ancestors in Beckett St Cemetery,

I'd be happy to include your Stotts in my search and let you know what other details exist in the grave books

Cheers Sue.

Lancashire / John Melling schoolmaster Radcliffe Bury
« on: Tuesday 07 November 06 10:27 GMT (UK)  »
looking for John Melling -wife Mary, son Richard christened 1820 Stand Lane New Jerusalemite Chapel Radcliffe.

Problem there are too many possibles.

Two other children were christened at Stand Lane around this time with parents John and Mary Melling - but father's occupation was weaver. It seems unlikely that he would have had such a career change, so this is probably a different family.

Any help in tracking the right John Melling born abt 1780-1795, greatly appreciated
