Hi Ashe:

Sorry I dont have an answer, but a possible solution.

I had the same problem as you, and found a website that told me everything I needed.

They have a lot of posters who are real experts on WW1, so I hope they can give you your answers.

Yorkshire (North Riding) Lookup Requests / Lythe parish lookup please
« on: Friday 20 April 07 04:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi:

I would appreciate a lookup in the Lythe parish registers for any trace of the Suggitt or Suggett family.

I am especially looking for the baptisms of a Cecilia Jane Suggitt c1860 & a John George Suggitt c1862.

Also, I was looking at the North Yorkshire Parish map of 1837, but couldn't see Aislaby anywhere. Do you know what area it comes under??.

Thanks in advance.

Yorkshire (North Riding) Lookup Requests / Whitby? marriage c1860 Suggitt
« on: Friday 20 April 07 00:14 BST (UK)  »
Hi All:

Can anyone help??.

I am looking for the marriage of my GG Grandfather George Suggitt.

I have discovered that he cannot be found via BMD, as have had several certificates, and all are for the wrong man.

It is believed he married a Sarah Ann Whiteley, and his first known child, Cecilia Jane Suggitt was born on 29th May 1860, and her birth certificate clearly shows Sarah Whiteley as the mother.

George & Sarah were living in Sandsend at the time, so am hoping that this is where he got married, but as it is so close to Whitby, does it follow that the marriage would be registered there?.

Hi All:

I am looking for any information on tracing the possible family of a John HAMERTON, my GGG Grandfather.

Sadly the only info on John that I have found is his wedding entry on IGI, which states he married a Charlotte Emily Ovenden at St Andrews Holborn, on the 21st of February 1829.

While Charlotte and her children can be found on census, John never appears with his family, and while in 1851, Charlotte is shown as married, by 1861, she is shown as a widow.

I would like to find anyone who may have either looked into the St Andrews parish records, or has in their research, come accross Johns birth entry, which I only know was previous to 1809, as he was of full age when married.

Sorry for the lack of solid leads to go on. :-[

Thanks in advance

Hi All:

I am looking for anyone who may have MI's for the Whitby area, in particular for the names of Suggitt/Suggett or Collis.

Collis:
Henry Collis died in Whitby in 1898, after moving with his wife Harriet, (d1915) to Whitby in time for the 1861 census, where they had several children.

Of these, James Thomas Collis was known to have died in Whitby in 1906, but the following peoples death dates are unknown.

William Minett b1854 m Cecilia Jane Suggitt/Suggett in 1883 in Whitby
George Walter bc1869
Sarah Jane bc1874 m John Locker in 1894 in Whitby

Suggitt/Suggett (name spelling alters)
George Suggitt was in Whitby for the 1881 census with his wife Sarah Ann & his family, none of whom's death dates are known.

John George b1862 m Emma Langhorn in 1897 in Whitby
Harriet Ann b1864
Elizabeth b 1866
Stephen b 1868
Eliza b 1870
Christiana b 1874 m Joseph Breckon in 1899 in Whitby

I have been told that St Mary's have none of these names, so anyone who has done MI work in the other burial grounds, and have come accross these names, please get in touch.

Regards....Andy

Suffolk / STOLLERY Family - Help Needed
« on: Monday 29 January 07 03:18 GMT (UK)  »
I have currently stalled in my families tree, as I am trying to find the family of my GGGG Grandmother, Lucy Stollery.

As far as can be found at this time, she married my 4xGrandfather, William Durrant, in Monewden, on 7th December 1802, but I cannot seem to find anything regarding her family.

The problem may be that her family were Chapel folk, as my 3xGrandmother, also a Lucy, wasn't baptized, but was registered at birth at the Chapel at Otley, the next door Parish, as were her younger brothers.

If anyone has researched the Stollery family, and can make any link to my Lucy, please get in touch, as ANY info would be very much appreciated.

To Ticker:

Please could you look up your list, and tell me if you have any inscriptions for the "SUGGITT/SUGGETT family, who were living in Whitby mid to late 19th century.

I am looking also into the COLLIS Family of Whitby, so any dates would be a great help.

Many thanks in advance....

Andy
