Hi Bryan

Sorry, no Augustus or Elizabeth Lewis.  The only LEWIS's in the MIs are Charles and Isabella, both died in 1893, plus three McKINNON grandchildren.  I can give you details of these if they are of any interest

Cheers
Gina

Hi Gina,

Thanks for that, I thought they were still in Thornaby when Augustus died but perhaps they'd already moved to Stockton, I'll have to re-check my notes.
I don't think Charles and Isabella are my relatives.

Cheers
Bryan.

Hi

I'd also love to have a copy of the map.  I have the Monumental Inscriptions if anyone needs a lookup.  No Kilburns listed though - sorry Pete

Gina

Hi Nannawilk

Would you be able to check if there is an Augustus Lewis d 1907 and his wife Elizabeth Lewis?

Cheers
Bryan

Yorkshire (North Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: 1851 census lookup JACKSON

I managed to get to the record office today and lookup the marriage details.

According to the certificate, Matthew was a bachelor and aged 21 (but based on the census records I reckon he was closer to 30).
It may be that he didn't know how old he was (it certainly appears that way from the census records).
Unfortunately it doesn't say who his father was, just that Elizabeth's father was John Watson which I already knew.

Perhaps he was not able to write as he and Elizabeth signed their names with an X.

I'll have another search on ancestry tomorrow if I get chance to get to the library in my lunch hour.

Bry.

Hi Barbara,

Thanks for your help.
They certainly look worthy of further investigation.
Matthew was an iron stone miner in Guisborough and as you've mentioned had a son Leonard who then had a son Matthew who was my gt grandfather.

I will get a copy of his marriage certificate and see if it mentions him as a widow.

Thanks again,
Bry.

Yorkshire (North Riding) Lookup Requests / 1851 census lookup JACKSON

Hi
I'm looking for Matthew Jackson who married Elizabeth Watson in 1855 in Guisborough.

I have found him in the 1881, 1871, and 1861 census for Guisborough but have not found him yet in 1851 or 1841.

In the other census he says he was born in Wensleydale.

I would be most grateful if someone could find him in the 1851 census for me.

Cheers,
Bry.

Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / Re: Augustus Lewis birth circa 1844

Hi Jane,

Thanks for that.

I already have my Augustus in the 1851 census in Whitchurch, Glamorgan.
I had been unable to find any record of his birth in Glamorgan and since I know that other members of the family had been around the Abergavenny area I thought it was worth a try to see if for some reason his birth had been recorded there instead.

I'll send off for the certificate to see if it is him.

Thanks again.
Bry.
