Somerset Lookup Requests / Re: Help with WALTON & LOCKYER families Somerton
« on: Monday 03 October 11 06:52 BST (UK)  »
G'day bells hells,
Following on from your post I would appreciate any info your brother may have on my Walton family.I am only clutching at straws in regards to the Lockyer family connection,my reasoning is that the families in those times carried the maiden name of the grandparents as christian names thus with Lockyer's name I wonder if his grandmother was a Lockyer who married into the Walton family.
What is your connection to Henry Walton??are you in NZ??
Kind Regards,
Peter Docking (aka the doc)

G'day Allan,
I noticed the surname LOCKYER in one of your messages & am interested in what you have researched.I am researching the Walton family from Somerton Somerset & I believe my GGGgrandmother could have been Sarah Lockyer who married Henry Walton 24 June 1772 at Somerton. My relationship to the family is through Lockyer Walton my maternal grandmother's father. He with his brother Henry migrated to Hobart, Tasmania,Australia in 1855 as a 13 year old,any help would be appreciated.I have the census for 1851 showing the family living in West Street Somerton & Sarah as being born at Boltenborough
Kind Regards

G'day Alli,
THANK YOU so much for your help, you certainly have spent a lot of time researching for me & I really do appreciate your efforts.
The Walton family at West St would be the correct one for my line.It is amazing that Henry would have gone from yeoman to pauper in such a short time & is probably why the 2 boys emigrated in 1855.The Lockyer & Walton marriage is interesting & is most probably Henry's parents.
Kind regards
Peter D ;D ;D ;D
