Berkshire Lookup Requests / Re: Pusey parish register lookup
« on: Monday 29 August 11 11:18 BST (UK)  »
Hi KN,

No, nothing definitive.  With a name like James White and the age variability the census has been disappointing.
If the father was a soldier as my aussie records say, he may well have moved around a lot.   I have looked at the Chelsea pensioner records but nothing seems to match the father - or rather, there are so many James Whites that I cannot be sure which might be him.

If I could find a marriage for James White and Catherine Wells that would help a lot.   I have found the parish of Pewsey in Wiltshire and it is not on the IGI so will chase up a lookup for the sons birth and parents marriage there.

A most vexing situation but I will not give up.  I am coming over to England in 2 weeks time and will head to the Wiltshire and Swindon records office and see what luck I have there.

Thanks very much for the interest guys,

Maree

Thank you very much to all who responded.  I will try and find the Pewsey records for Wiltshire.
At least I can cross this Pusey off the list.

Best wishes,

Maree

Berkshire Lookup Requests / Pusey parish register lookup
« on: Sunday 28 August 11 08:48 BST (UK)  »
Hello helpful people,
I am looking for the birth of one James White born c 1819 - 1830 (depending on which Aussie records are used) in Pusey parish.  His parents were James White and Catherine Wells.  James White senior was apparently a "soldier".
I have no idea of siblings names if they exist.  But I do have one record that says he "came from" Pusey, Berkshire.   The Pusey parish registers seem rather elusive.

He is my gt gt grandfather and has been impossible to locate thus far.  He was in Geelong, Australia by 1857 and was a labourer.

Thanking you all so much,

Maree White

Offaly (Kings) / Re: Clara, Kilbride Tithe Applotment - 1826- Will lookup
« on: Sunday 22 May 11 08:22 BST (UK)  »
I obtained a large part of the Kilbride parish tithe applotment records for Clara townland, its about 200 plots of land with occupiers' names.
I would have loved to make copies of the originals but the microfilm copy machine wasn't working so I wrote everything down on paper and will use it like a census for Clara.  Anyone looking for someone in this area, I have their name, property, and quantity of land.

Hi,
such a generous offer and I hope it is still open.  I have 2 surnames to check for Clara  viz McDonald (aka McDonell) and Kinehan
Thanks very much
Maree
