Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help with a surname please
« on: Tuesday 26 February 19 16:08 GMT (UK)  »
I have a marriage & Baptism for my Turner Ancestors but am unable to decipher the bride/mother's name. The baptism of William Turner has the mother's surname as a second forename.

WmTurner
Marriage 19 May 1681 St James, Duke's Place, City of London

WilliamTurner
Christening (Baptism) 4 Apr 1681 St Martin, Ludgate, City of London
Wm, Elizabeth

Familysearch have indexed her as Parthence, but I have not been able to locate incidents of that surname in any online indexes.

Would anyone have suggestions for possible alternate surnames to search.

We lived in South East London , Margate was my best guess. I've not got the original photo so can't really add any further info, there may be writing on the reverse but the original is long since lost.

This is a picture of my mum taken in the late 1940's to early 1950's. Would love to know where it may have been taken. I'm hoping someone may recognise the sea wall. I think it would either be south or east coast England. Unfortunately she is no longer around to identify location.

Any suggestions gratefully appreciated.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Photograph of Winifred Rowe

I have posted this rather badly damaged photo of my Grandmother. It was taken in 1939/1940. I believe she was with the Auxiliary Ambulance Service based at the South Eastern Ambulance Station (now Deptford Ambulance Station and still in use) on New Cross Road, SE London. Taken 1939/1940.

Would any of the photo restoration wizard be able to do anything with it.

Any help is gratefully received.

Thanks in anticipation

Thanks for the info. I've had a look at the TNA site. I will need a district number to find the correct documents. Would you know where to find a list of these districts ?

The Sudan does fit in with family knowledge. Will also look at the medal rolls.

Thanks for the help
