Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Re: Harriet Evans Llanarmon
« on: Thursday 19 November 15 16:46 GMT (UK)  »
As this is an old post I am wondering if you need a response. There were 9 siblings in this family, my great grandfather being Harriet's older brother. Happy to help if you need more information.

I wondered if you have thought about putting up a message with the Grimsby and Cleethorpes History club? They have a community page on Facebook which seems really friendly. A lot of the people who follow that site would be local and possibly have back copies of Bygones.

David Griffith's wife, Jane Evans (1870-1922)  had a brother named John, and he was my grandmothers father. There were 9 Evans siblings in all.
Which meant that my grandmother Elizabeth was 1st cousin to the 3 Griffith sons, and as she was born around the same time as them in 1898 they saw quite a lot of each other, Deganwy being a lovely place for a holiday!
Which translated back means we share gt gt grandparents!

Thank you so much for getting in touch. Since the original post on this site, I have been fortunate enough to be in contact with Geraint Griffith and he supplied me with more recent details of the family. I would be very interested to exchange information as my grandmother was very close to those in Deganwy where she often stayed, and left me  photographs which you might like to see, also a Christmas card from the front in 1918  sent to her from Glynn, which might be of interest to your son.
Are you the daughter of David Griffith by any chance? I don't have a lot of information about your grandfather and his immediate family, so just a guess.

I have received a couple of pages of details re The Kings Head, one being a  list of owners, and one a list of landlords if you are interested in those. No old photograph has yet emerged, but current ones are being taken for you.

I had Anne married to Thomas Smith as a possibility, so good to confirm that. I would very much be interested to see how their tree unfolded and also happy to exchange any information I have. Margarets second marrage was to a John Smith 1809-1870, so it is surprising to hear that you might also have another link to the family, but with her first husband Hugh Jones. She also married his brother George Jones to make it a third time lucky! (*)
