Hi,

I have been able to get the records for Walter Cyrus Paterson
from the Quarrie in  Canada....
It states in these records that his brother is a seaman so
that may make a differance in not finding him on the census
it does not mention a name of ship...
Since William Arthur Collett (Walters brothers name)Born:
March 1,1864 in Bedford,England
has spent most of his life in England I would think his ships
where out of Liverpool or other England ports...does
someone know about ship records and help or give me some
hints how to find some records...Crookedtail

Hi,

I'm not a expert on England but from my understanding
while doing my research in Bedford i found the following...
Holy Trinity was formed from St Paul in 1839 the in 1896
St Martin was formed from Holy Trinity...so i believe you
should look for St Martin and that will be Holy Trinity church
reformed to that church...you may find a picture then...also
possibly write or email St Martin and see if they have
picture of the Old Holy Trinity...hope that helps...i will keep
trying to help also...Crookedtail

Hi,

William did know about his brother as Roberts brother
David also from Scotland took the over seeing of both
boys making sure of money for there keep and visits as he
was mentioned in the record i got from Scotland
and is noted by living relatives that he visited both boys
but David went to USA in Pa in 1881 ..
.and i know that David had just lost to death
three of his sons so i believe that they were
emotionally unable and had 6 others still living to
take the two  boys at the deaths of all their caretakers.
I am in contact with some of Davids
grandchildren but they have been unable to find
any paperwork that David had on the two boys, but are still
looking and no one knows now what happened to the boys.
Walter Cyrus went to Canada in 1880 and i have
traced him till the 1930 USA census in New York but nothing
after that, working on death  but quit expensive without
knowing when. William may have gone to Canada also but
unable to find a connection with Walter.
Thanks guys it is great to have others input on ideas and
another pair of eyes.. ;D ::)
Any ideas are welcome....sometime you get tunnelvisioned
and miss things...

HI,

HE WAS WITH HIS STEPGRANDFATHER AND HIS BIRTH
GRANDMOTHER..AND IS LISTED AS GRANDSON...on the 1871 Census
YES IT WAS THE WILSHER FAMILY...
He was living with them in the 1871 census...
His mother died in Scotland in ....
Rose Finden Collett
April 11,1867
Glasgow,Scotland
Father: Robert Paterson
Died:Nov 16,1869
Scotland,Glasgow
Married: Jan 22,1865
Bedford,England
So they weren't married when William was born...

The PR records said William Arthur was living with grandparents in England.....
I knew who grandparents were and all their history
so i was able to find him with his stepgrandfather and his
real grandmother with no problem...
the problem is after 1878 when grandmother died and 1879
when his stepgrandfather died....he would have been about
15 years old and no family left and orphaned again...
hope my new explaination is better ...thanks for you
question and help...Crookedtail

Bedfordboy,

No the 1871 Census is the only one i have found with him
listed...It is really is hard due to his date of birth coming
in between census's and not knowing his name of either
Collett or Paterson...I hope birth cert will answer some of
the questions...I have his brother 13 in 1880 going to
Quarrie in Canada and i have found his marriage and move
to New York,USA clear to 1930 so far...I hope that William
and him were able to know each other...they did till the
Colletts died and their Uncle David Paterson went to USA in 1881  as he use to see both boys when they were little....no
other contact that i know of ...Crookedtail
