Hi Colwyn

Thanks for the information, back to the drawing board again I'm afraid. At least I can eliminate the Jane Jones on the 1861 census from Betws.

regards

Hi

Not been on this site for quite a while so just seen your message regarding Jane Jones born 1859 in Betws yn Rhos.  I have a grt grandmother on my father's side who was a Jane Jones born c1859 form Betws yn Rhos. This information I got from the censuses.  According to her marriage certificate her father was an Evan Jones. She married a Robert Williams.
I have had great difficulty in finding any information regarding her birth etc, just wondering if your Jane is the same person as mine?

Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Francis Bydall/ Frank B Gould
« on: Sunday 27 September 09 18:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Can anyone help?  I'm trying to trace a Francis Bydall who according to the 1891 Census was recorded as being aged 6, born in Wordsley and was an adopted son within a Gould household.  The head was a Mary Gould. I cannot find Francis on the 1901 Census other than a Frank B Gould living with a Richard and Hannah Gould. he is 16 and place of birth given as Wordsley.  Richard is the same, I think, as the one in the 1891 census for the Gould household, the occupations tally for both census.  A Frank B Gould was killed in action in France 1916.  The record states he was born in Wordsley, but gives no age.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Mark Mitchell
« on: Sunday 07 June 09 11:40 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Trying to clear up a real puzzle. I wonder if somebody could look up two baptisms in the Billingley/Darfield/Wath region. The first is Josiah Mitchell born 1836, likely illegitimate child of William Herring and Harriett Mitchell. The other is another son born to Harriett and he is MARK b. c.1837. The family were living at Billingley in 1841 so these two were probably both born there, but because they were illegitimate it is likely Harriett took them to a different parish for baptism. On the 1841 and 1851 Mark is shown with the surname Herring, but in later life he calls himself Mitchell. Gratefull thanks Fairfax.
