Hi Veronika,

I think scotlandspeople is probably the best.

All my ancestors are from Fife in Scotland, and I have many images from the OPR and most show the  names of both parents and some even show occupation.
I have quite a few from the early 1600s, and all show fathers name.

Hi Robert 99,
I have been trying to see if there might be a link between our respective Ramsay lines, but as yet have not found one.
If I do, I will get in contact.
Thanks for the posting.

Hi Chiad Fhear, I haven't found any connection related to your Ramsay's as of yet, but have only recently started to research some of the side shoots.
Should I find a connection I will contact you.
Many thanks for your interest

Hi,  Norrie G and JAP, thanks for the help you have given me.
I am looking forward to anything that swingteacher may find about any Ramsay's from that area.
I appreciate any advice that you guys may have in enabling me to not only go further back, but to perhaps even find living rellies.
Once again, thanks.

Hi Norrie G,

Thanks for that info.. it ties in with a lot of what I have been able to find over the last two years..
I started this family research as a hoby seeing as i am now retired, and I find it so interesting and addictive :)
I thank you and JAP so much for your help.
I find it comes somewhat dificult for me, and are amazed at how easy some of you guys on here seem to be able to find things..
Once again many thanks

Hi JAP,

Thanks for your message.

Some of the information on my original posting I had got slightly wrong as I was very new to family history. ::)
yes you are right i have managed to trace back to 1695 the paternal side, with images of births, marrages and some deaths all from scotlands people, but have hit a brick wall there.
Its the off shoots that I am struggling with, siblings and their families.
John Ramsay b 1723 at Ceres  wed Elispeth Smart in 1758 their son John b 1764 m Mary Wishart 1787 at Lower Largo.
child of above is
William Ramsay b 1791 wed Janet Wilson Wishart  at Kilconquhar 1815
Child of above is John Ramsay B 1820 who wed Margaret Henderson and then Agnes Robertson.
Child of above was George robertson Ramsay b 1868 in Kilconquhar.
He was my grandfather.
I live in the south of England so ALL my searching is done on line, I hope to be able to get up to Scotland one day to search the records. So any information I can get is so very welcome.
Once again thank you so very much
David Ramsay
