Hi Jacquie
Yes - that is his widow. I had already found her and thought it was strange that there was no record of him being buried there as well but you have solved the mystery with the info on missing records.  Is there any national index for Canada that I am missing or would I have to rely on some kind member who lived nearby who could perhaps look at the cemetery next time passing? Sorry - I don't know how big the cemetery is or if that is possible. I am from Northern Ireland which is where Barney was born in 1839. Thanks for your reply

Only reason was I tried them first and think I must have got a new employee who insisted on telling me that I couldn't get a marriage cert for pre 1864 even though I had the volume and page number. I gave up in the end and ordered it from this other site. After reading your reply I tried your link again and they said no problem - a photocopy would be 4 Euros.  ???

Thanks for reply - at least I am sorted now but an expensive mistake!

Ireland / Certificate problems?

Just wondering if anyone else had any problems with getting certificates from irish-certificates.com

I applied for a marriage certificate in january and paid £25. It hasn't arrived so I sent two emails which were ignored, rang the number, which went straight to answer phone and left a message which has also been ignored.
Anyoneone else have any problems?

Really sorry folks  :-[ I didn't realise so many people would be so kind as to actually look up things for me. Thant's all the info I have on the parents. I know they had children called Ellen, Mary, Agnes, Sarah, (all born in 1850's) Thomas and possibly William. As I said before, I did consider the John Newell and Ellen McAnerny marriage but haven't been able to back it up and can't find any of the childrens' births around there. Also, I wouldn't have thought he would have been classed as a labourer if he had a trade as shoemaker, although not impossible I know - just wish I could find one of the births!. Thanks again to everyone for the help  :D

Thanks for all your input. My John Newell died 23 Oct 1885 in Belfast (same address as wife later) and was a labourer. Will give the links a go though- thanks everyone! :D
