Hi SThom

If you are planning a trip to Aberdeen, it may be beneficial to contact the Family History Society there.  I believe they are very helpful.  They are located near the centre of the City which is handy.

Check out their website

Hi

I have an original copy of

                    LYTHAM TIMES
St. Annes-on-Sea & Kirkham Chronicle

it is dated Friday, October 27th, 1944, it's possible it was still being published after that date.

Even though you didn’t find 'Richard the Mariner'  ??? you have given me more information in your last posting which I have just followed up:-

Death of Richard’s grandfather.
Marriage and death of auntie.
Name of son in law is Thomas Pomfret!

Cheers

Hi Tati,

Thanks for the look up – that was quick!

Interesting 3 new additions to the family. :o

Richard is the main one I’m following – he is not easy to track down being a mariner, I can’t find him in 1871 either.

In 1841 he was with his grandparents in Warton – Richard and Isabella Wright – perhaps you could see if he is staying with them? - If they are still living.

Thanks again

Jennie

Hello Tony

Thanks for getting back to me, I hope that your father is well and enjoyed his birthday.
My father was also born on the 30th September! He would have been 106 this year!

What a shame your dad didn’t shed more light on the photographs.

In answer to your questions – My mother told me, many years ago, that the old photo was at Lytham; as to the photo of Jane and Richard I am not at all sure of the location.

Very sorry but I don’t have any further information for you regarding Fair Lawn or what happened to Thomas Fildes and family. :(

I have Lytham photos but they are 1930’s onwards, mainly holiday snaps.
Lytham is a lovely place, I remember as a child picnicking on the greens, watching the cars go by and trying to name the make and model before my father.  Now there are too many cars, too many models and they drive too fast – I’m showing my age!

I was hoping that by resurrecting this post - someone may have come up with new information for you regarding Thomas Henry Lloyd and his family.  :(

Perhaps you should start a new thread for 1891 ???

Best wishes

Jennie

Hi Mo,

Just thought I would let you know that the info you found on my behalf was the correct Wright family.  Richard was indeed with his grandparents in 1841.

I have just received the death and marriage certificates.

Frances wife of Robert passed away December 1851 and widower Robert married Ellen in August 1853 daughter Isabella being a witness.  (So Ellen was Richard’s step mother)

Another piece of the puzzle done!

Next piece - 1851 census …
Robert Wright still with Frances and children Richard, Isabella, John, Thomas & Ann.

Thank You once again for your help.

Kind Regards

Hi Mo,

Thanks for that, WOW – the plot thickens!

Just checked BMD and found entries for:-

     a. Death 1851 of a Frances Wright age 43.

     b. Marr 1853  Robert Wright m Ellen Strickland.

Very interesting as a Mary Strickland b c.1851 appears with the family in 1861.

Also an Ellen Strickland b1848 married Richard’s brother James in 1865.

Mmm :-\  if Ellen is the daug of Ellen, James married his step mother’s daughter!

What a tangled web!  I will have to send for the certificates.

I hope someone out there as kind as yourself will be able to locate these folk on the 1851 census and assist me to continue the puzzle. ::)

Thank You very much Mo.

Kind Regards
