Australia Lookups completed / Re: South Australian Electoral Roll - Keeble (completed))

Hi John,
yes I am aware of the probability that George Keeble did not father any of the children to Rachel Vida.  It was my research on here and the lovely people on here who helped me find the information that lead to learning of Georges final resting place.  My father-in-law spoke to a family that George spent time with in Broken Hill and later South Australia, he learned more about George who he has always called his Grandfather.  Some parts of the Keeble family are very touchy on the possibility that Rachel bore her children to a few different men, as you say, the birth certificates do indicate who the possible fathers are.
Cheers

World War One / Joseph William Barnes WW1 records
« on: Sunday 31 March 13 04:56 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I recently found records for my Great Grandfather Joseph William Barnes,
who was a private in WW1.  He was in the Middlesex regiment and I think
in a couple of different battalions.

I have no experience in working out the information on these documents, is there
anyone who might be able to give me a hand?

cheers
Sandie

It is family folklore I suppose you could call it about George leaving before any
children were born.  He was married in 1904 and the first child was born in 1907.
The first childs name has the name McVeigh in it, a clue to his paternal lineage.

Rachel bore 13 children from 1907 to 1930, she was also a midwife.

Georges death fell just outside of the time period where I could get a transcription,
so I had to resort to getting the certificate.

There is a Probate notice for Josiah 1987, the other notice in the paper from Wilhelmina was
from 1915, with her trying to find George Keeble, and was placed in the Barrier Miner Newspaper from Broken Hill,
and we now know he in that area in the 1930's so perhaps he was in that area in 1915 as well.

I hadnt put the Wilcannia occurances together, so perhaps you are right there.  Great find in Trove, I hadnt
come across the George Keeble in Wilcannia!

thanks again  :)

Hi Kezia (great name by the way, I have a few in my Hunt tree)

thanks for that info, I just had a year  for his death. I have the census for 1851, which
lists Cornelius as a widower, so it is probably correct for Maria's death.

cornelius Keeble, head, wid, 75, Pauper Coal Carter b. Crowfield Suffolk

cheers
Sandie :)

Wilhelmina was Josiah second wife, they were married in Victoria in 1891.
I am not sure why she would place an advertisment looking for George, so long
after his fathers death.  She died in Victoria in 1960.

Josiahs first wife Sophia went onto marry the person named in the Divorce proceedings - Charles Grainbauer.

it seems to be that way, but its hard to prove.  Thats why I would
try and check the electoral rolls to see where George Henry Keeble
was listed throughout the years.  It would give us a clearer picture.
The family members that I am in tough with knew Rachel Vida (their grandmother)
but they didnt talk about their grandad (George), and dont know much
about him.  I am just trying to piece the puzzle together.

I honestly thought I would never find out where he got to.

No, all the information on marriage, spouce and children was unknown.

I think George left before there were any children born to Rachel, and at this stage,

The children bore his name, and by the looks of things, none were biological.  Some have
two birth certificates registered, or have been corrected.
