I have just looked and also looked at the certificate again. I think the word is simply"The" as in The Parish Church.
Thanks a lot

Lancashire / Help with reading marriage Cert.
« on: Saturday 01 October 11 14:34 BST (UK)  »
I received a marriage certificate but can not read the Church name. The marriage was in 1876 in ? Parish Church in the Parish of St George Barrow in Furness . Arthur E O'Brien carried out the service. The marriage was in the established Church  after Banns. Any help appreciated.

Down / Re: Quinn, Killyleagh

Glad I can be of help. Most of my Quinn's went to America. In the process of looking for them I gathered up a bit. In the inhabitants of Killyleagh 1891/99 ( a local  census) I found this info.

25   Shrigley Village   John Quinn   head   Scutcher
   Shrigley Village   Kate Quinn   wife
25   Shrigley Village   James Quinn   son
Shrigley Village   William J Quinn   son
25   Shrigley Village   Susan Quinn   daughter
   Shrigley Village   Patrick Quinn   son

Cross reference those names with 1901 census and I think the family are still in Shrigley. They would have worked in the Mills.

Once you establish the family I will see if there are any graves that will tally .

I am researching Quinns from Downpatrick so have saved a lot of information

27 Jun 1913, Killyleagh Roman Catholic Church, Killyleagh Parish, Downpatrick registration district- Thomas QUINN to Mary Catherine HILLOCK

On the Ulster Historical Foundation marriages, the father of Thomas seems to be John and Catherines Father is Patrick. Hillocks can be found 17 in Marchioness Street (Falls, Antrim) on the 1901 census

Another marriage that may be of use is
2 Oct 1881 Killyleagh Roman Catholic Church- John QUINN to Catherine DORIAN

Killyleagh was once in the parish of Kilmore and the records are in Crossgar RC Church.
If you need more help I can look through my information for you

Down / Re: Laverty's of Rathmullan
« on: Friday 20 May 11 12:17 BST (UK)  »
My great Grandmother was Lavery and she was born 1871 in the townland of Rathmullan. Since doing research I have found that Lavery and O Laverty are two different families in the area. Sometimes the "O" can be  missing and it can be spelt Lavery/Laverty.
Do you have the name of  John Joseph O Lavertys wife. Also , do you know when he arrived in Southampton.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Rodgers and Keenan of Barrow In Furness
« on: Monday 28 March 11 14:02 BST (UK)  »
Hello and thank you for the reply.

I think the Sarah Ann is correct. She did not appear on the 1891 census. I found Robert and James in Stockport . Robert went to the Boar war in 1899 and James was his next of Kin.He states his father Robert could not be found. Robert settled in Belfast. James was in Franklin St 1901.
I found Robert Keenan senior and 3 more children in Fisher St 1891. He is classed as married but there is no sign of Ann/Annie Keenan, his wife. By 1901 no sign of Robert Senior and 3 children.
One sibling, Edward eventually went to Canada and kept in touch with our family in Ireland. He named Robert his brother as next of kin and gave Belfast as the address. I would like to know what happened to Jennie(Mary Jane) and John.
I very much believe in a small world as I am sure Franklin St was not very big.

Again thanks as it can be a bit of a struggle.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Rodgers and Keenan of Barrow In Furness
« on: Thursday 30 December 10 16:43 GMT (UK)  »
Could someone kindly do a search of the  1901 or 1891 census for Rodgers or Keenan of Barrow. James Rodgers married Mary Ann Keenan in 1880. Their children were James, John, Francis, Mary ,and Rose. By 1901 they had a James Keenan living with them .He was Mary Ann Rodgers nephew.
Robert Keenan  married to Ann Burke in 1876. In 1881 they lived in Fisher St Barrow. Their Children were James, Robert ,Mary-Jane, Sarah-Ann ,Edward and John. I think their mother died in 1891 so the family broke up.
Through the little pieces of information I think Mary Rodgers took in some of the Keenan children.
Have been searching the Keenan line for many years now.
Any help very much appreciated

My aunt was married to a brother of this family. Sadly she passed away on 1st Sept this year. Was helping her with the family tree. I have a few photos and bits of info on the family. Would like to fill in the tree for the rest of the family.
