Hi,
I am struggling a bit with my 8 x great grandfather, John Brind. He married a lady named Elioner, (I have been unable to trace the marriage so do not know her maiden name).
I have been trying to trace their children and have found ten possibilities. I am fairly certain of the first four, who were named William, (baptised 01/01/1685), John, (baptised 11/01/1688), Ethelred, (baptised 06/03/1689, and buried 13/07/1690), and Elioner, (baptised 01/05/1691). All at St. Botolph without Aldersgate, (also known as St. Botolph's, Aldersgate), Aldersgate Street, City of London, England.
The three living children, William, John, and Elionor, were all mentioned in the Will of William Brind, their paternal uncle, who died in 1694.
At the time of son, William's Indenture to an apprenticeship in June 1699, John is recorded as a 'Plumer' (a Plumer was an alternate name for a Plumassier, who sold decorative feather plumes).
John and Elionor's possible subsequent children were: John, (born 10/12/1693), Mary, (baptised 06/01/1694), (I am aware that they cannot both be the children of the correct John and Elioner unless one of the dates are recorded incorrectly), Eleanor, (baptised 31/01/1696), Thomas, (baptised 15/07/1701), an unnamed daughter, (born on 28/07/1704), and Mary, (born 17/12/1707).
From the baptism of the last three children John's profession is recorded as some sort of grinder (logwood or ginger grinder).
Is it likely that he would have changed professions from 1699 to 1701 or is it more likely that I am looking at two different couples named John and Elionor/Eleanor?
Any advice gratefully received.
Kind regards,
Coreen
