Yes I did start a thread many years ago I think. Still interested in either Oakshawhill or Chappeltown/Easton Hills Tinnings and quite a few more.

Also interested in any that came to Australia.

Baptism: Arthuret Parish records 10 Sep 1738
James, son of James & Mary Tinning of Oakshawhill.

1738/09/10 1738 Bapt. TINING James son of James of Oakshawhill & Mary his wife 85 BT

Marriage: Arthuret Parish records,15 Jul 1766
James Tinning & Jane Wilson

There were two James Tinnings marrying at the same time both marrying Janes.
1766 Jul 15  James Tinning & Jane Wilson
1767 Aug 03  James Tinning & Jane Graham

As the baptism of Elizabeth dau of James & Jane of Chapeltown shows Jane's maiden name as Graham (14 Aug 1791)
It must be presumed that Jane, wife of James of Oakshawhill, maiden name was Wilson

I have Richard Doss to thank for this information.

Hi Forty Twa,

My ancestor was Samuel McAra b. 1816 also a was son of Finlay McAra (b 23/8/1769) and Christian McOmish (b 2/6/1775) who were married 29/8/1795.
I would love to share information about this family with you.

Just joined Rootschat so hi to all my (apparent!) new relations.

My Great Grandfather John Barnett (dob 20/3/1827, Kilspindie, Perthshire) married Christian McAra (born about 1832) at Monzie Parish Church, Perthshire on 27/4/1859.

She was the daughter of John McAra (b 2/9/1798, Monzie; d 23/3/1874, Crieff) and Margaret Cameron (b about 1800, Fowlis Wester, Perthshire; d 5/2/1891) who married in Crieff 11/12/1825

John was son of Finlay McAra (b 23/8/1769) and Christian McOmish (b 2/6/1775) who were married 29/8/1795

Monzie Parish Churchyard is quite literally FULL of McAra headstones which I have pix of if anyone interested

Hi Celia,

I can't belive this.

My Margaret Macara was born in 1913. During WW2 her mother Edith was a regular correspondent of my grandmother, her sister in law.

At that time this was her address which I have from her address book.

Mrs E MACARA
53 Gorsehill Rd
Wallasey
Cheshire

Now this Margaret Macara from your record was

MACARA, Margaret 53 Gorsehill Road, Wallasey, Merseyside
Lloyds TSB Private Banking Ltd, Kings 28 June 2005 (827)
CH45 9JB. 31 March 2005. Norton Estates OYce, PO Box 4159, 54
Pershore Road South, Kings Norton,
Birmingham B30 3EB. (Lloyds TSB
Bank Plc.)

This surely must be her. I wonder why it mentions Birminham.

What a wonderful find ! Many many thanks,

Anne

We are off on a holiday for ten days on Saturday so I will be off the air till then.
