« on: Tuesday 01 August 23 07:13 BST (UK)  »
Huntermh  I have been doing some serious revision on my Harper family. They started in Carnmoney,Co Antrim(these days it's just a suburb of Belfast -back then it would have been a small country village)but my branch ended up in Co Derry.
My line was Robert Park Harper (born 1786) who m'd Jean hill. Robert had a brother James (born 1782)  who m'd Janet Hunter in 1813 Robert and James's siblings wereJanet,Alexander,William,John,Abie (probably Abraham),Isaac, and Hugh.
The name Hunter made me think it might have some interest for you. Agnetta.

Derrel   I'm researching Harpers. I have a James Harper b 1782 the son of John Harper and Isabella Jamison. of Carnmoney.  James married Janet Hunter in 1813 in Carnmoney.I don't know of any children for James and Janet, because I've been searching for descendants of his brother Robert Park Harper, but I thought being Carnmoney it might help in your search.

Huntermh - I know yhis is quite some time ago and you've probably made progress since then (2015) but I haven't perused Rootschat for a long time. I'm researching Harpers too.My lot ended up in Dungiven, Co Derry but they started off in Carnmoney,Co Antrim in 1700's Big families 10 or 12 children. My earliest is John Harper bc 1742 who married Isabella Jamison in 1767 in Carnmoney (which is currently a suburb of Belfast but would have been a village in those days)John and Isabella had 10 children. Just wanted to let you know about a possible area to search in.

Gizzi  I'm doing a biota revision on my Gibson part of the tree and have been on Rootschat to start with.
Alexander  (born 1824 or 1833,depending on which record you believe - marriage or census) married Mary Anne (Marianne) Rosborough.Alexander's father was William Gibson of Carrick,Limavady, according to marriage lines.I can't find a William Gibson with son Alexander anywhere. ( There is a William Gibson and Margaret/Martha ??? with 2 sons Robert and John in 1824&1826 in Drumachose, but no Alexander)I have tried Scotland too, because quite a number of N.I. men went to Scotland for seasonal farm work in those days, but no joy.Their is also aWilliam Gibson and Hester/Esther ?? in Dungiven in more or less the right time frame, but no Alexander.
Alexander and Mary Ann Rosborough had Joseph who married Mary Anne Mc Cully, who had Joseph who married lily Poston who had David m'd ?? - (the rest you know !!)
Have you made any progress with William in the intervening years?  ( my late husband,Jim Harper and David Gibson were cousins.Jim's mother Margaret, and David's father, were brother and sister.)

Down / Raverty/Rafferty
« on: Sunday 31 October 21 07:14 GMT (UK)  »

I am trying to find info on Mary Jane Raverty born c 1831 somewhere in the Dromore/Hillsborough
area. According to the marriage lines of Mary Jane and William McCarthy in 1852 in  Lisburn Reg
Office, her father is John Raverty. I am trying to find who John Raverty married and if Mary Jane
had siblings, or if Mary Jane may have been Roman Catholic. William Mc Carthy was COI. (Might
explain the Reg Office if it was a mixed marriage ) All their children were baptized COI.
    Any help will be appreciated.
