How about adding Netherlands (Sub: Limburg, Zuid Holland etc, Belgium, France Luxembourg and others so that researchers can widen their scope more easily.

Immigrants & Emigrants - General / Railway employee in Burma about 1900 - 1935
« on: Saturday 09 July 11 03:55 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

My Father in law was born in Rangoon Burma in 1925.  His father was a Burma Railway employee though I do not know at what occupation or status.  My Father in law was anglo-burmese but I believe his father was either of english or irish descent.

Where could I find lists of Burma Railway employees and birhs and marriages for Burma between 1900 and 1935.  Sadly my Father in law passed away before I started my research so I have little knowledge of his life in Burma or later in India, though I do know he was in the Vetinary service with the British Army 1941 to 1945.

Thanks

Carmarthenshire Lookup Requests / Re: David DAVID born Kidwelly Abt 1783
« on: Tuesday 29 August 06 00:23 BST (UK)  »
Hiya Yes found the marriage and I think family in 1841 in Pale but it has David David age 52 puts birth at around 1789.Heres Johns birth 04/May 1822 St Illtyd Pembrey parents David David and Jane abode Pal.I guess the other possible son is William born 12th July 1820 parents David David and Jane Hopkin on the igi.I have a gap in my records of St Illtyd for the years around that so cant confirm Williams birth. There are loads of David David born around 1783-1789 in Carms so would need more info to pinpoint the right one sorry .A few in Pembrey to.How do you know that he was born in Kidwelly ?If he died before the 1851 census.Best Wishes Welsh Lady

Hiya John,Forgot to say is this your John in 1841 ?at Pall Pembrey .William David,70,Ag Lab.Margaret David,30,William David,25.John David,20.If it is could William be the Grandfather?Ages were rounded down in 1841 so William would be 70-75 years old.Best Wishes Welsh Lady

Hi Welsh lady
To answer both your points

Your first post is correct in that the info you found is right.  I had considered too that the William might be David DAVID's first son too and forgot totally about the Elder William DAVID living at Pal also which would kind of give credence to the naming of a first son after the grandfather?

If Pale & Pall are one and the same, as I think they are then John DAVID was living with his Grandfather?  And William was either his brother (likely) or uncle.  Margaret DAVID could be William DAVID's daughter?

I think though that you have prompted me to look at my data again and I should have seen this possibility before.

Now I guess I had better try and find the death of William DAVID's wife to see if her name was "Margaret".

If you come up with any more gems please hit me with them.

Regards

John.

Carmarthenshire Lookup Requests / Re: David DAVID born Kidwelly Abt 1783

Hello Welsh Lady  ;)

My David DAVID married Jane Hopkin in 1817 in Pembrey.  They had (AS far as I have found) 2 Children.  My direct ancestor John DAVID (Davids in 1841 census, Davies there after), second child not confirmed so will not say it here.

In 1841 David DAVID was living at Pal (Pale) in Pembrey alongside the then Canal.  John his son is also living there but seperately in another household.  Information taken from Carmarthenshire FHS Permbrey Census PDF file.

Afraid that's about all I have on David DAVID as he had passed away before the 1851 Census  .

Thanks

Carmarthenshire Lookup Requests / David DAVID born Kidwelly Abt 1783

Hi

Anyone able to check Church records of Churches in Kidwelly for the Christening and Parents name of David David who was born abt 1783 and may have been from a Farming family.

He moved to Pembrey to marry in 1817 and was farmin land there though I do not know if he owned or rented.  I am surmising he was from a farming background because of the fact that he farmed in Pembrey as did his son and grandchildren later on.  A grandchild was later associated with Tygwyn farm Pinged, and David's son farmed 18 acres somewhere in Pembrey.

Would love a result on this brick in my wall :-)

God Bless
