Thanks very much for the marriage, David and Margaret.

I have to admit I hadn't noticed that FreeReg had Yaxley marriages.

The marriage is definitely the correct one, as the Robert Kisby I'm interested in was indeed from March, and he did have a sister called Ann, who is no doubt the first witness.

Thanks also for the baptism, Margaret, but I'm afraid that isn't the right one.

Mary was 30 when she was buried in January 1837, so she was born much earlier than 1817 (which would have made her rather young to marry in 1825...).

Robert's 2nd wife was Harriet Chambers from Great Wratting, Suffolk, and Harriet had a sister Mary baptised in Great Wratting in 1806, who I think is pretty sure to be Robert's first wife.

Thanks again to everyone for your very speedy help  :)

Hi bunnygirl,

Just come across this old message - are you still looking for this marriage? If so, I'll post the details.

Hi Sylvia,

I've just found this thread after replying to your other thread about settlement orders.

As I said on the other thread, I'm descended from Richard Pool's son Joseph. I'm afraid I don't have any information about Thomas, but if you'd like to swap notes about the rest of the family, send me a PM, and we can exchange e-mail addresses.

I had a look at the John Pool will last time I was at Wigston, and made some notes about the main points:

Probate 1803

John Pool of Barlestone, butcher

Legacies to:
- surviving children Sarah, Hannah, Thomas and Ann
- John and Elizabeth, children of deceased son John
- Mary, Elizabeth and John children of deceased son Stephen.
Reference to land in Ratby and Groby occupied by son Thomas.

Executors: son-in-law John Sutton and John Fox of Barleston
Will dated 27/8/1802
Witnesses: Edward Cuthbert, William Wall jr

Signed John Pool (x)

Not at all convinced that this is Richard's father.

Hi Sylvia,

Settlement examinations would be held by the Leicestershire Record Office in Wigston. You could try e-mailing them to ask if they can find one for John, but I'm also related to this family, and didn't find anything last time I looked at Wigston.

I did find the settlement examination of his son Richard, which I think you may have, because it says that when Richard was born (he was baptised in 1776), his father was living in Ibstock but legally settled in the parish of Nailstone.

Can I ask how you're related to the family? I'm descended from Richard Pool through his son Joseph.

Regards,
Mary

Very sorry indeed to hear this news. Mike was a wonderful help to me when I first started my research, and I know he helped countless other people too.

My deepest condolences to his family.

Hi all,

Does anyone have access to the Coventry St. Michael's 1729 marriage register?

I'm interested in the marriage of William Slingsby and Mary Copeland.

The Warks PRs on Ancestry don't seem to include St. Michael's; the marriage is on the FamilySearch site, but only the year is given.

I should like to know the exact date of the marriage and any other information there may be.

Thanks in advance,
Mary

Well, you were quite right - I've had a very quick reply to my e-mail from the Uniting Church archives.

They hold the Marriage and Baptism records for the Muswellbrook
Wesleyan Methodist Church from 1884 onwards, and charge a search fee of $26.

If anyone needs a search or more information, this is the address to contact:

Archives Parramatta <archives@nsw.uca.org.au>

Thanks again for your help,
Mary
