The  Scotts Arms at Sicklinghall where the Straffords were publicans and photographed still exists so there may exist local history of the Strafford  family.

The Strafford mention is limited. The album relates to people from Yorkshire in particular the Leeds area. The Gills are prominent but there are many people with that name in the Leeds area so they are difficult to trace.

Due to limitation on attachment size I can only send one photo.

Let me know whether I can help further if you think you know of a connection with the people in the Album.

Unwanted Certificates & Artefacts / 1920 photo album - SYME and GILL families
« on: Thursday 12 January 12 13:28 GMT (UK)  »
I have a 1920 family holiday photo album featuring at least two families, the Syme family I think from Cheam Surrey and the Gill family from Leeds. The families appear prosperous. I would like to return the album to the rightful owner. The quality of the photos is generally very good.

I would appreciate how I can obtain information on a marriage of a Alexander Thompson/Thomson and a Sarah Holmes. Both were probably from Scotland and married about 1890 in Cape Town. They had at least 6 children. The dates of birth of three of the children are known.

I have an album of various photos taken in about 1920. They depict various holidays in the North and South of England. Some of the families shown appear relatively wealthy. Places mentioned include Knaresboro, Pately Bridge, Raven's Gill, The Scotts Arms Sicklinghall with Mr and Mrs Alf Strafford, Jim and Mrs Dunn. There is a photo of Cayton Church and a holiday was taken at Honeysuckle Villa in the area.
Cheam Surrey is also featured with a large property at Burdon End.

Names include Syme, Gill, Dunn, Strafford, Lilian Bottom and Paterson. There is a strong Leeds connection to some of these people.
