Completed Census Requests / Re: 1901 census Sheffield Pexton - west riding
« on: Monday 01 November 04 20:43 GMT (UK)  »
Many thanks for your reply. I do know of some of the the other Pextons you have listed, but its just trying to tie one of them in to the tree.

Is it possible to get information from the cencus with just an address ?.

I think that I may have to try further back and try to go back a generation or two, and see if the line can be brought forward, that way I might drop on lucky.

Anyway Krise, thanks for your time and effort , its always nice to receive a reply.

cheers .  Ian.

 :) Hi Winston,
thanks for your help,I do know of some pextons from kirkheaton, but not  the family you listed!. I`ve been to the village graveyard and there are thirteen gravestones with pextons ( none of the names you gave) so I`m hoping this family is the one that moved on to sheffield.
The charles you mentioned would have been 31 in 1917 when my dad was born, which I think could be plausible ???.
So thanks again, you may have helped me to get through my
BRICKWALL.

regards, Ian.

hI everyone,
Ref buttons, all buttons on dress uniforms were of a standard size, but each button had the same design as the wearers regimental cap badge. The same tradition is still the norm in todays modern army.Hope this makes things a little easier for you

Hi denben
Records of soldiers whose service ended before 1921 are held in the National Archives.

TRY enquiry@nationalarchive.gov.uk

or tele  02088763444

ALthough aprox fifty percent of all these records were desroyed  during the second worldwar it is still worth a try if you have his regimental number and regiments name.

Happy hunting. :)
