My Edwards (William Edward Edwards) was born in Manafon because his mother went home from Guilsfield to give birthbut the family themselves lived in Guilsfield. William Edwards mother was Mary Edwards (Nee Bullock).

I have an Edwards ancestor who was born in Manafon 1883 in the Forden district  - any help?

Thanks to all for your helpful suggestions. We have now reached the end of the  road and have accepted that, short of exhuming the grave and reading the plate on the coffin, we are not able to pinpoint the exact grave that she is buried in.

The family is putting a commemarative bench in the churchyard with the kind permission of the vicar so in a fashion we have achieved what we set out to do which was to put a stone on her grave.

Just thought I would let you know what happened.

I was on a message board where they were saying that people on here weren't nice. I had a look anyway  - found that everyone was very very nice and stayed

My Grandmother, Kate Davies, died in 1934 and is buried in St Marys Builth in an unmarked grave.The family would lke to find the grave.
The unsuccessful steps we have taken so far are
Contacted the church  -  unable to help
Contacted the undertakers  - unable to help
Spoken to someone from the FHS  - unable to help
Old contacts in Builth  - unable to help
Everyone has been willing to help just that they have been unable to provide the information we require.

I am now going to arrange for an ad to appear in the local paper.

But is there anything I haven't thought of  - If there is please post a reply

Thanks for the info Anne - As it isn't a council graveyard but a church graveyard the council have no information.
The question is of course is when someone was buried in the churchyard and there wasn't a stone how did they not keep digging people up?

The answer I have had so far is that the gravedigger would insert a stake in the plot and if it hit an obstruction they would move else where.

I don't know whether this is true or not, or feasible even. Perhaps someone could englighten me.
