Hi Linda,
Thanks for your reply and info.  I have sent you a personal message with a link to a Gooday Family Tree which you might find interesting.  Kind Regards Eve

Hi Guys, I am currently updating my research on my 4 x Great Grandfather Thomas Monk. I have lots of information on his business ventures on the canals, and have just sent for his death certificate from the GRO.

I was hoping to find more information on his burial and perhaps a photograph of his headstone as I feel sure that as a successful businessman of the area he would have had one, but I am confused  ???

I have found references that state he died on 3rd August 1843 in Tipton and was buried at St Thomas's Churchyard Dudley on 8th August 1843 and found Malcolm Platt-Griggs MI list, but the Monk family are listed under the heading of:-

List of Bodies taken from St Thomas's and re-buried in the Borough Cemetery

91.Headstone and footstone to two graves,91 and 92.
Joseph MONK (Jun.) June 6th,1822/Thomas MONK August 2nd,1843/Sarah MONK January 9th,1854/Thomas MONK (Jun.) September 24th,1858/Sarah MONK March 14th,1855.

92.Matilda MONK August 30th,1828/George MONK August 8th,1859/William MONK March 23rd,1812/Sarah Ann MONK May 21st,1814/Also son - name unreadable April 17th,1821.

I think the list is numerical so numbers 91 and 92 are not related to grave plot numbers.

Can anyone shed any light onto why they might have been moved and are there any "friends of" the Borough Cemetery that may have grave photos or further information.

Kind Regards Eve

That's great and Headley certainly fits which other research of my Knight family.

Thank you both for your help

Hi Guys,

Can anyone help me in deciphering the parishes in this Marriage Allegation between Edward Knight a Widow and Yeoman and Christabella Isdell a Spinster

Ancestry have the document dated 1730, I know I don't have much hope in transcribing every word but identifying these parishes would really help me.  Perhaps someone with local knowledge would be able to recognise them.

Many thanks

Thanks - Yes I have searched on both Family Search and Ancestry without any success, broadening my searches along the way and ending up with just Christian names but still to no avail.

London and Middlesex / Bennett Family 1871 Census Look Up Please
« on: Sunday 11 December 16 17:09 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Guys,

Please can anyone help me find my Bennett Family in the 1871 Census.

I think this is them in the 1861 Census:-

Robert Bennett born 1835 Hargrave Suffolk (Head)
Mary Ann Bennett born 1834 Wickhambrook Suffolk (Wife)
Harriett Bennett 1856 Wickhambrook Suffolk (Daughter)
Frances Bennett 1860 Woodditton Cambridgeshire (Daughter)

and definitely them in the 1881 Census:-

Robert Bennett born 1835 Hargrave Suffolk (Head)
Mary Ann Bennett born 1834 Wickhambrook Suffolk (Wife)
George Bennett 1863 Old Ford London
Robert Bennett 1867 Old Ford London
Harriett Bennett born 1871 Old Ford London
James Bennett born 1879 Old Ford London
Albert Bennett born 1881 Old Ford London

but cannot find them in the 1871.

Any help very much appreciated

 :)

Brilliant - Thank you so much Suffolk*Sue  :).

With not knowing the area I've just been looking at where Great Ashfield and Bury St Edmunds is in relation to Rushbrooke which is where Robert states in the 1851 census he was born, all quite close.

As you have found he was a widower at the time of his marriage to Margaret Franklin would it be possible to identify his first marriage or indeed confirm Robert Bennett Baptised 9th April 1775 son of James & Harriot Hart is the correct Robert?

Kind Regards Eve x
