The Common Room / Re: Catholic Baptism Records

Thank you cider drinker. I'd found Patrick and Margaret Delany on the 41 and 51 census and their niece Louisa Jarvis is with them on both. It seems from looking at Louisa's mothers will she was entrusted into the care of Margaret and Patrick.
Can I ask where you were able to view the marriage records?

I have three siblings born to Patrick Delany and Margaret Mansell, in Madeley,Shropshire. The family were Roman Catholic. Th three children that I know of are:
Mary Delany born 1811

Margaret 1816
I cant find Baptism records for them but I do have their marriages.
Can anyone help or advise?

The Common Room / "Copied from and Old Parchment"

About 25 yrs ago I made contact with an elderly lady in the UK who was connected to my family via the Roberts/ Delany family. She frequently refereed to the fact that the Roberts side were decended from the Knights of Penmachno. She sent me copies of a badly typed and I assume translated copy of the family history. I'm finding it very difficult to follow. I'm attaching a piece of it with specific reference to the mention of Mary Roberts in 1813.
any thoughts?

Sadly I don’t. The notes I have don’t state when he went but I’d imagine he’d have been at least 16/18yr old.

I have old notes given to me by a distant relative now deceased. My own research has found these notes to be accurate so far. I have a missing relative, a Robert Roberts, son of Robert and Marjery Roberts, born Nov 1805 in Ysbyty Ifan,Denbighshire. The notes state that he went to the USA and when planning to return to the UK he wrote to his father saying he was "getting his provisions together and would return shortly". He was never seen again. His family are said to have advertised in the US newspapers for news of his. My question concerns US newspaper archives from the early 1800's. Where can I view them online?
