Not sure that you will have the chance to see the marriage entry for free.  Page number is very large - 2122 - which would probably link to a Register Office marriage.

How mucu would they be and where can i buy them? Also do you have access to this record? Any info would be great :)

Hello everyone,

I am looking for help tracing a man named John Barnard Johnson, who I believe was born around 1851 in Sweden and later moved to the UK.

Here is what I know so far:

Name: John Barnard Johnson
Approx. birth year: c.1851
Place of birth: Sweden (as listed on later UK records)
Residence in Wales: Pontypool area, Monmouthshire
Marriage: Married Mary Elizabeth Davies (or Davis) in 1883
Had multiple children including Olive E Johnson

I am hoping to find:
• His exact birthplace in Sweden
• His parents’ names
• Any records of his arrival in the UK
• Any early census entries before his marriage
• Any clues about his occupation or reasons for coming to Wales
• Any records of the Johnson/Davies family in the Pontypool area

If anyone has access to Swedish parish indexes, migration records, or local Monmouthshire resources, I would be very grateful for any help or guidance.

Thank you for your time.

Leo

Dear Archives Team,

I am researching my grandfather, Amarjit Singh Grewal, and I am hoping to confirm details of his immigration to Canada.

Family information suggests he travelled from the United Kingdom to Canada around 1967, possibly for work. I am trying to establish his exact arrival date, port of entry, and any records that may exist relating to his landing or residency.

Here are the details I have:

Name: Amarjit Singh Grewal
Born: c.1930–1937 Potential (India)
Lived in the UK: 1958–1967 (Charlton and Crayford, London)
Likely immigration year: 1966–1968
Possible destination: Ontario or British Columbia (not confirmed)

If you hold any passenger lists, landing records, immigration files, or work permit documents for this period, I would be very grateful for any assistance or guidance on how to locate them.

Thank you very much for your time and help.

Kind regards,
Leo

Dear Archives Team,

I’m researching my great x2 Grandmother, Phyllis D Woodliffe, who was born in 1900 in Retford, Nottinghamshire. I’m trying to identify her father, but I haven’t yet found a birth certificate or baptism record that confirms his name.

Here’s what I know so far:

- Name: Phyllis D Woodliffe
- Birth: 1900, Retford, Nottinghamshire
- Mother: Ada Ann Woodliffe (1875–1952)
- Death: Unknown, but she is listed as deceased (possibly Lincolnshire)

If you have access to birth records, parish registers, or any other documents that might list her father’s name, I’d be very grateful for any help or guidance.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Kind regards,
Leo

Hi, I’m hoping someone might be able to help with a lookup or any guidance.

I’m trying to trace my grandfather, Amarjit Singh Grewal.

What I know so far:
- Born in India (exact place unknown)
- Believed to have moved to the United Kingdom after the Second World War
- Family stories suggest he came to London to study at a university, possibly in the late 1940s or early 1950s
- He later married Joyce E. East in Woolwich in Sep 1960 (Vol 5d, Page 2122)
- Children: Sharenjit K Grewal (1961 Dartford, has sadly passed now)

I’m trying to find anything that might confirm:
- When he arrived in the UK
- Whether he appears in any London university records
- Any early addresses or occupations before his marriage

If anyone has access to records that might help, or can point me in the right direction for London university archives or post‑war immigration records, I’d be very grateful.

Thank you to anyone who can help.

Hi, I’m hoping someone might be able to help with a lookup.

I’m trying to trace my grandfather, Amarjit Singh Grewal, and I’m looking for information that appears on his daughter’s birth certificate.

Details:

Name: Sharenjit K Grewal
Birth: June quarter 1961 (has passed on now in 2015)
District: Dartford
Volume: 5b
Page: 711
Mother’s maiden name: East
Parents: Amarjit Singh Grewal & Joyce E East

Sharenjit is no longer alive, so I’m hoping it may be possible for someone with access to the full record to check the following details from her birth certificate:

- Father’s full name as written
- Father’s occupation
- Parents’ address at the time
- Any additional notes

I’m specifically trying to find more information about Amarjit Singh Grewal, so anything shown on this certificate would be incredibly helpful.

Thank you very much to anyone who can help.

Happy new year everyone :)

Hi, I’m trying to trace my grandfather and I’m hoping someone can help with a lookup. I suspect he was born in India then moved to the Uk, but it could potentially show his parents names

Name: Amarjit Singh Grewal
Married: Joyce E East
Marriage: Sep 1960, Woolwich (Vol 5d, Page 2122)

Children:
- Sharenjit K Grewal (Dartford, 1961-2015)

I can’t afford to order the certificate, but I’d love to know:
- Amarjit’s age
- His occupation
- His father’s name
- Their address at the time

After 1967, He immigrated from the Uk to Canada and had more kids over there
