Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: 1841 Lancashire Census. GIBSON

Thank you, Trish.  I thought Samuel and Jane were on the tree, too.. I actually have a printed article about William Gibson, the mathematician that my grandmother kept in the Family Bible. I am new to RootsChat and hope you receive my reply.

I knew my grandmother very well who was Horatio’s granddaughter and she always claimed she was descended from William Pitt.  Certainly cannot confirm this, but have heard the story from other sources, too

Thank you, Neale.   This confirms some information I had.   My grandmother always said her grandfather had an interesting affiliation and I am trying to confirm it,as much as it is possible, by seeing if anyone else has a similar story.   Did you know that Horatio was the great grandson of a well regarded self taught mathematician named William Gibson, born in 1720 and lived at Blawith, Lancashire?

Hello, Horatio Pit Gibson was most likely raised by his grandmother, Eleanor, who lived with Horatio and his family until her death at 95 in 1841.  In her will, she left her estate to Horatio.  She never married and her illegitimate daughter was probably Mary Gibson whose birth was recorded in Westmoreland.  Trying to find out more about Horatio's birth. He was born in London around 1798.
Any help would be appreciated. I do know quite a bit about the Gibson family as Sarah Gibson ( 1835-1912) was my grandmother's mother.
