Many thanks this is a great help. I'm finding that after spending a lot of time with this I am slowly getting better at reading this text. I guess the more I do the better I will get 🙂

Realise its a big ask but thanks for looking.

I also give unto the said Edward Northway and William Northway the sum of six hundred pounds in trust to layout the same in Government funds and to pay the interest thereof half yearly - Eleanor Christopher widow at present in Saint Pancras workhouse for the - of her natural life and after her decease to pay out - or half part of the said interest to my said niece Elizabeth  - during her life in - - before mentioned and from and after her decease one half part of the said capital sum so interested I give to - child or children of my said niece Elizabeth - who shall be living at the time of her decease if only one the whole if more than one then to be equally divided and amongst them share and share alike as they shall - attain their ages of twenty one years but in - the death of my dad niece Elizabeth - - in leaving - then I give bequeath the said - one half part of the said capital sum of six hundred pounds  to my nephew John Kimber and as to the remaining - - half part thereof from and after the decease of the said Eleanor Christopher  widow I give the same to my said nephew John Kimber for his sole use and benefit
I also give and bequeath the said Edward Northway and William Northway the sum of five hundred pounds intrust to invest the same in - Government funds and to pay the interest thereof half yearly to old Daniel - of Thatcham aforesaid now or lately labourer to my nephew and from and after his decease I give the said capital sum so interested unto and amongst - my brother Edward Northways daughter as shall be living at the time of the decease of the said Daniel - to and for - - their sole use and benefit I also give and bequeath unto the said Edward Northway and William Northway the sum of six hundred pounds three per cent consolidated annuities in trust to pay the interest thereof half yearly to Elizabeth Sweet widow now living with me during her natural life and from and after her decease I give the said sum of six hundred pounds three per cent consolidated annuities to George Corderoy Ann Higgs and Sarah - in shares and proportions I also give and bequeath to James - now lodging with me the sum of twenty pounds life three per cent annuities  I also give to William Cooke of Maidenhead Miller and who believe formerly - - - the sum of one hundred pounds life three per cent annuities and I give devise and bequeath unto my said nephew William Northway his heirs and - for ever all that my freehold estate situate in the parish of Thatcham aforesaid and I do hereby - that all every - legatees so given by me as aforesaid be paid - six - - - after my decease and as to all the rest residue and remainder of my estate both real and personal and of what nature or find the same way be or - of I give devise and bequeath the same and part thereof to the said Edward Northway and William Northway Executors of this my Will and hereby revoking all - and other wills by me at any time therefore made do declare this only to be my Will and Testament - - where of I have to the first four sheets thereof my - and - this twenty fifth day of November one thousand eight hundred and twenty ( signed William Northway) signed sealed published and declared by the said Testator as and for this last will and testament in the presence of us who in - - at his request and in the - of - - have subscribed our names as witnesses - Wm Faulkner - - - Oddy Clerks - - Clarke, Faulkner

This is the last will and testament of me William Northway of No.7 Church Row Stepney in the County of Middlesex
I desire to be interred in the burying ground of the parish of Thatcham in the county of Berkshire in - - at the discretion of my Executors

I give and bequeath unto my nephew John Kimber of Chieveley in the said county two hundred and fifty pounds
I give unto my nephew George Corderoy of Pedlars Acre Lambeth in the county of Surrey Carpenter five hundred pounds three per cent consolidated  annuities
I give and bequeath unto my niece Sarah - of Southfields - five hundred pounds life three per cent consolidated annuities
 I give and bequeath unto my niece Ann Higgs five hundred pounds life three per cent consolidated annuities
I also give and bequeath unto my first cousin Oswald Northway of Thatcham aforesaid farmer the sum of one hundred pounds sterling

I also give and bequeath unto the Governors and directors managers or trustees of the London Hospital Whitechapel Road the sum of one hundred pounds life three per cent annuities -  to be applied towards - on the - of that charity for ever and bequeath unto church wardens and overseers of the said parish of Thatcham aforesaid for the time being the sum of five hundred pounds life the three per cent annuities in trust to pay and apply the interest - - annual proceeds to arise - in - following that is to say one half of the said annual - of the said stock or fund to be divided and distributed unto and amongst the three oldest single poor men of that parish yearly and every year for ever and I - the same to be applied and paid at the discretion of the church wardens and overseers of the said parish for the time being and - I - to keep on amount of the payment and distribution thereof
I also give and bequeath unto Edward Northway and his son William Northway the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds  in trust to layout the same in Government funds on - - and to pay the interest thereof half yearly unto niece Elizabeth - wife of James - for natural life for - separate use and benefit only independent of any husband and from ond after - decease I give the said capital so interested to - - or - of - said wife Elizabeth - as shall be living at the time of the decease equally the same and share alike between them if but one child such child to have the whole - - to be paid at - - or - respective ages of twenty one years but - - said more shall die without leaving - - I give the said capital sum - - nephew John Kimber

Hi, thanks for that. I'm really struggling with the names on this  will. This  must be an aquired skill.  Regarding William Northway you are indeed correct he is indeed a bachelor. It would appear to me that he is quite a wealthy man. As the bequests he makes of £500 for example are the equivalent of £ 75-80000 in today's money.
I am particularly interested in how he set up a fund to pay annually a sum to the 3 oldest single men in Thatcham. Also he set up a fund to buy bread annually for poor of the parish.
Anyway you have given me good start.
I shall persevere and hopefully it should get easier the more I do.

Ok, I have a will downloaded, however I cant seem to post attachments to this post.
If anyone with ancestry can look at it and read it  I would be really grateful.
The will is for William Northway died abt 1823
