I'm a descendent of Stephen Moneypenny through his son James (Jas) Moneypenny (later changed to Manypenny after arriving in the US). James moved to Washington County, Pennsylvania and died in Hancock County, West Virginia. His deathplace and grave are just a 10 minute drive from where I currently live today. It's actually the biggest tombstone in the Flats Cemetery in New Manchester, WV.

I found the Moneypenny's were granted 1000 acres in by King James I around 1610 or shortly after as part of a big plantation push after the Flight of the Earles. I haven't found the names of Stephen's father or grandfather, as the Moneypenny that was granted the land in Ulster from the King didn't have a first name listed that I've found yet. However, I did see that they were from Kinkell, which would link Stephen Moneypenny to the Moneypenny's of Pitmilly.

I found Stephen using PRONI and saw that he also had the alias Monypenny, and I also found that he was a Seneschal from reading a newspaper article from 1792.

It's so interesting to see people in here also descended from Stephen through William, whom I haven't looked into much yet but will!
