Still not 100 percent sure..either born in 1899 to John and Elizabeth Murray (nee Cavanagh) in North Road, Drogheda or born in 1895 to John and Mary Ann Murray (nee Kennedy) in Dermotstown.

For both, there exists family records in the 1901 and 1911 census.

What we do know is that she travelled alone to Australia to start a new life on board the Bendigo in 1928. The passage record states that she was 33, so born in 1895.

Different times of course but to travel all that way, alone and arrive in Melbourne at the peak of summer, not knowing anyone ..it must have been very hard on her.

I am trying to get some information about the steamer SS Bendigo that sailed from London to Melbourne, it left London on 18 October 1928 and arrived in Melbourne December 1928. My grandmother Elizabeth Murray from Bridge St, sailed on her and I would like to know if there are any pictures at all of the passengers and other related information. Thankyou

Louth / Trying to find living relatives of Elizabeth Murray born in Drogheda
« on: Wednesday 10 September 25 04:34 BST (UK)  »
My grandmother was born in Louth county in 1899/1900, her parents were John Murray and Eliza Murray (nee Cavanagh) They married in Tullyallen, outside Drogheda, in 1895 and then living in Mell an area in Mellifont / Tullyallen Parish. They had a total of 5 children: Mary Jane (1897 - 1942), Elizabeth (1899 - ), Catherine (or Kathaleen) (1903 - )
William (1906 - )John (1908 - 1978)
My grandmother, Elizabeth, emigrated to Australia in 1928 and gave birth to my mother in 1931 in Melbourne. After that we have no idea what has become of her, She may have moved back to Ireland or stayed in Melbourne, All attempts to locate her have been futile.
I hope that by focussing on her brothers and sisters that some living relatives of her ie living relatives of Mary Jane, Catherine, William and John can be located in the Louth area and I can get some insight into what became of her. I do have some information about her brothers and sisters eg Mary Jane married Patrick Moore in 1919,  and John married Sheila (Esther) McGraw.
Patrick Moore when he died in December 1974, the death notices states that he has brothers and sisters, sons and daughters and grandchildren.
Any information that someone can provide is appreciated.
Thankyou
