Regarding whether Sydney Rowe was Winton’s father, I think that he was based on my ancestry DNA.
I found out recently that I had a cousin I never knew - shared DNA on my paternal side. My father I only found out recently was not the biological son of the person I had thought was my grandfather. The connection between myself and my new first cousin would appear to be that Sydney Rowe may have been my Dad’s biological father, our shared grandfather. Support for this hypothesis is that I have a third cousin with whom the DNA link to myself and my first cousin would appear to be via Sydney Rowe. My grandmother was Annie Towse. My father was born in November 1929. Annie was have been living in Auckland, Kingsland area at this time. Though I seem to remember when researching my father that she may have been in Whangarei at the actual time of his birth. My father’s birth appears to have been not registered until 1944. With Annie and probably stepfather Eric Browne listed as parents. Any information on Sydney around 1928-1929 and or a connection & child with Annie Towse (born 1911) would very much appreciated.
