Yorkshire (East Riding & York) Lookup Requests / Re: Edith Barr Drowned Fitling

Sorry for the delay in replying.

I'd love to share the death certificate but cant work out how to attach a file, despite spending ages on it.

Your story about the watch is fascinating.

I was aware of the drowning but could never work out there it occurred. So the info on Canhams farm is very helpful.

If you have any idea of how I could share the certificate, please let me know.

Terry

Your post may be "past it's sell by date" but I thought I'd share what I know.

Edith was my Grandad John Herbert Barr's sister.

Her death certificate says "accidentally drowned". But also "Dead body found 28th December 1912". Fitling

She is buried with her parents George & Alice in St Mary's Church, Rimswell. The headstone is still present (or it was two years ago).

Her parents lived at Blue Hall Farm, Rimswell and her grandparents (who she lived with as a domestic servant) lived in Garton. I wondered whether she was walking across fields from one property to the other after Christmas?

I still cannot find any newspaper reports about it.
