Fritz Guye did work together with his two Brothers, as Horologists, in London, and seems to have made components of the Benson Bank watch at P&A Guye. Later they three brothers dissolved the business it seems partly due to Fritz no longer wishing to be part of the watch making world.
Fritz Guye Married Gertrude Percy Ashton Glover. it seems some years after Fritz Guye Browning was born. It does not surprise me that Fritz would have a child out of wedlock but it would have been kept very much of a secret as Fritz was considered as a prominent figure in society. Gertrude was also from one of the finest families in Britain and Ireland, as she was from a very prominent family bloodline, and it is said she even had tea with Queen Victoria, who commented on her striking beauty.
Fritz Guye died in England in 1901, leaving his wife destitute, without means.
Fritz and Gertrude's son, Edward Fritz, did indeed move to Australia where he served in the Australian Army WW1, and fought at Gallipoli. He was awarded a plot of land in Winchelsea, Victoria as wartime settlement for his service.
Fritz and Gertrude were my great, great grandparents.
