Hi Keith,

Sorry but two of the Probate records I posted above may not be connected to ‘your’ OSBORN line.
Alfred of 17 Wyecliff Road, Handsworth and his widow Fanny May of 4 Park Avenue, Handsworth.

Although I had their Probates on file, I missed seeing my own note that reads;
This Alfred OSBORNE is NOT the son of Joseph b.1843. However, he may prove to be connected to that family somewhere.

That’s what happens doing things fast, late at night. Hopefully it removes the problem you mentioned with Helen’s Probate.

Gwynne

Thanks Gwynne
Keith

Hi Keith,

The OSBORNE family tree mentioned was compiled by me in 2016, before many records such as the 1921 census and 1939 Register were released.

Having now nearly finished other tree’s I’m presently working on (each taking 40 sheets to print) I must update that OSBORNE tree before sharing it. With other commitments, that may be a couple of weeks. At least ancestors aren’t going anywhere in a rush.

Being an Excel file, it can’t be uploaded here. We will need to exchange email addresses. You will find mine if your Google search for my RAF Bridgnorth web site or this link

Gwynne

Thanks Gwynne, you have been more than helpful on this journey of discovery.
I will contact you as suggested.

more Probate

Gwynne
Many thanks for these items. Very interesting facts.
I'm still trying to reconcile the facts we now have about Albert Avery Osborne since these show him passing away in 1919 but on his mothers death in 1928 her probate shows her leaving a son and two daughters behind in 1928 ?
Thanks for the hint about Joseph Osborne in the bowling club picture. It's hard to work out with the beards since our picture of him outside his shop is not sharp enough to see (153KB) but I think he is in the front row, 8th person in from LHS of the bowling club photo..
I think you said at the beginning of our conversation that you had a small family tree of 33 descendants of William and Elizabeth Osborne. Is that something you could still send to me please ?

Many thanks Gwynne for these and your earlier replies.
Any further information would be gladly received.
Thanks for the offer to show us the grave locations but we live in the south of England so that would have to be a special trip ! If we do visit Bridgnorth again I'll contact you.

Do you where Joseph Osborne is in the photograph you sent of the Bowling Club photo taken by Clara Osborne ?

Every image had to be resized to meet the message board requirements.
All very rushed and late at night, but hopefully you will find some of it interesting. Still have some local newspaper articles and Probate records if you want them.

Gwynne

This is amazing Gwynne. We never thought we would uncover such material about our ancestors. Thank you once again for your kind help. We were wondering if Albert Avery Osborne had been killed during the Boer War. We had some articles from the Bridgnorth Journal in 1900 describing some of his experiences of the war to his father. Since visiting Bridgnorth we have now managed to find and procure a silver pocket watch made by Joseph Osborne in 1877, it has his name and town engraved on the watch mechanism.

Welcome to Rootschat

Both Joseph & Helen left wills.  Copies can be downloaded for £1.50.  There may possibly be something about burial but no guarantees

Joseph died 20.2.1916 @ 24 High St Bridgenorth & Helen died 15.3.1928 @ same address

With the dates of death you could ring the Records Office to see if they have a record of their burials

Many thanks for your help Carole.

Hi ??

It’s your lucky day.

In 2016, I was part of a group who were approached by an old lady who previously worked in OSBORNE’s shop in Bridgnorth. She was interested in their family history.

I still have on file;

15 photographs of memorial headstones (although some are duplicated and a close up view) including the people you mention. There are only 5 OSBORNE’S buried in the Municipal Cemetery plus some connected CHAMBERS family.

9 newspaper articles about their shop and events.
7 Probate details.
A dozen or miscellaneous articles.
A relatively small family tree showing approx. 33 descendants of William OSBORNE and Eliabeth, the parents of Joseph.

I’m under pressure to complete two other Bridgnorth family trees I’m working on. However, during the next week I’ll review all the above and let you have it all. There were also over 80 emails involved.

Regards,
Gwynne Chadwick

Many thanks Gwynne for you help and prompt response. We look forward with interest to seeing the items you mentioned.
