The 1939 census indicates he was an electrician.

It was a general register NOT a census.

And? Do you have anything helpful to add to my request? I LOVE the 1939 CENSUS, don't you! 1939 CENSUS 1939 CENSUS

No clue why he joined so late. The 1939 census indicates he was an electrician. Likely a reserved occupation, especially if he was in the mines. No clue, though. I never met any of this side of the family as my grandmother was adopted, and my DNA results have helped me find my previously unknown great-grandparents, and their other children on Ancestry.

Durham / Looking for any Allison family photos from West Hartlepool
« on: Monday 28 July 25 06:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
My  was Eva Allison born 25th December 1866 in West Hartlepool. She was a triplet, and they all survived to adulthood! (Nina, Eva and William Allison - i found a very small mention in their births in the Durham County Advertiser). No mean feat in the 19th century!! Jacob and Mary Ann Allison (Nee Shepherd) had 17 children with 14 surviving to adulthood. I'm after any photos of the family. I have a couple of Eva, and that's all. They lived in Wellfield House Foggy Furze, West Hartlepool from around 1850's to after the 1911 census. Any help is very much appreciated! Kindest regards,
Lisa

Hi all,

I've recently found my granduncles digitised enrolment form at The National Archives site for the Durham Home Guard, 10th Batallion. His dob was 22nd September, 1921. He was from Gateshead. He didn't join until 1944 (reluctant soldier perhaps!). Not expecting much, but appreciate any help!
Kind regards, Lisa

Hi all,
I'm looking for any photos of my recently discovered great-grandfather, Alexander Elliot (15 Nov 1868 - 14 NOV 1945. Died in Border, Cumberland), or any of his 10 children (11 including my illegitimate grandmother)! The 1939 register has him running Burnside Farm, Hethersgill. He was originally from Hawick, so will ask there, too. He worked at Consett Iron works for many years as a foreman (I know that's Durham!), where I'm originally from. I'm in Sydney, Australia - so visits to the Carlisle archives are not viable. I'm not expecting much, but greatly appreciate any help! Kind regards, Lisa
