Family History Beginners Board / Help understanding birth information
« on: Sunday 10 August 25 19:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Can anyone help me please.

I have a birth record from Ireland 1870. What does dwelling place of father mean?

Does it mean that's where he is at the time of the birth? or
That's the fathers birth place?

Thanks Sam

Hi,

Prestwich was the registration office for the parishes of Newton (Now Newton Heath), Cheetham (Now Cheetham Hill), Bradford, Harpurhey, Crumpsall, Moston, Beswick, Blackley and Clayton. It was abolished in 1916 and become North Manchester district.

There was a hospital on Clayton Vale, Clayton Infectious Diseases Hospital in 1909 and later became the Smallpox Hospital in 1933. There was also a nursing home there for Sailors.

;D Thank you for this information. ;D

My mind is buzzing, its fantastic, also confusing, then again very exciting and frustrating as I'm a newbie, but i think I'm getting there.
I do have Ancestry but not everything which is not good, so i will have to sort that out.

Thank you Everyone, I'm bowled over with your support.

Love
Sam

Family History Beginners Board / Plea for help - Bairds of Kilkenny
« on: Thursday 31 July 25 10:03 BST (UK)  »
Hello Roots,

I am very new to Roots and family tree searching, I'm hoping for some help please.

I'm looking at my husband's side of the family, his grandad Edward Baird born 2.11.1903 Kilkenny to Thomas and Mary Baird Nee Phelan. I'm stuck at Thomas Baird. I don't know how to find his birth or marriage, or death even. All records have different ages.
Ancestry keeps sending my hints for Thomas Baird married to Sophia Smith, how do i know if he was married before?

Any help is very much appreciated
Kind regards
Sam Martin-Baird  :)
