Kent / Re: Boys Family in East Kent Parishes
« on: Thursday 26 June 25 17:20 BST (UK)  »
My grandmother was a Boys.   She maintained that one of her ancestors had a monument in Canterbury cathedral (Very unlikely I know, as I think  both the Johns died without heirs) and she remembered a coat of arms - though of course, being quite young at the time I took no interest in asking about it.

BUT  my grandmother came from Sunderland.  Her father, Thomas Boys (b. 1864), lived in Sunderland, but I believe that his father, Gardiner Boys, came from Durham.

The family seemed to have gone up geographically as they went down socially!

I've found it hard to track backwards from Gardiner, and I wondered whether any members of this forum had found any instances of Boys migrating to the north of England so that I could try a two pronged approach.

A long shot I know, but I thought it was worth a try.
