Hi Pinetree,
Just getting into the Bird family again and I think that your Mary and my Joseph are brother and sister.  How about that?

Hi,
I see that you are researching or collecting the Gamblen names from the Fareham, Titchfield and Droxford areas.  Are you related to them?  I see that you were referring to William & Charlotte, he is my grandfathers uncle and wondered if you were related in some way?

Hi Indi,

On my grans' marriage she had him as having been a soldier and when he died in 1896 (ref: grans story she was 9 when he died and she was born mid 1888) she was put into a girls home for daughters of soldiers.  Which for a change bears out part of her story.  So now I will have to go and find him in that area if I can and it looks like he joined at that time.  Does anyone know if when the census was taken for the army if it was kept seperate?
Thanks so much Indi and Pinetree you have solved so much in such a short time I am amazed.  Pinetree I will look for your Mary as I go on my travels and will let you know if I find her.  Did you send me all her info before (not able to go back without losing my stuff here) if not can you get it to me and I will put it in my files.
Thanks again so appreciated

HI Indi,
WOW!!   After I read Pinetree's post I went looking too and found the same thing and thought that I would wait to see if anyone else had the same.  This all seems to be falling into place and after about 10 years of looking.  Just needed to get the right board with people that are in the know.
Thanks so much

Hi Pinetree,

Here is what I have on George Bird & family.
1891 census at 1 Chichester Mews, Paddington, London.
RG/12/2

George   head 42 years born Two Gates, Warwickshire
Emily Annie  wife 28 years born Cardiff, Glamorgan
All children born in Paddington, London
Thomas   5
Elizabeth  4
Catherine 2 (my grandmother)
Annie Susan 1

I found a marriage and birth for George on the free BMD as follows:
Born June 1/4  1849 Two Gates, Warwickshire.
Married Sep 1/4 1884 Lambeth, London.

What exactly are you referring to "index"?  Is there some way that maybe I could get into it?

Wouldn't it be something if your Mary and Joseph were related to my George?  Stranger things have happened.

Thanks so much for your help
