Thanks for replying. one tree had 4 private so i assume parents and sibling but nothing else and the other person had no tree at all.

Both accounts are named but nothing in their bios to suggest age or location

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Unsure relationship?

I did shared matches with the individual and both two matches with 22cm and 25cm

Of those two matches neither had a tree or enough information in their bio to try and do tree.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Unsure relationship?
« on: Tuesday 18 November 25 00:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I got my grandmother to do a DNA test, as she is the closest living relative to the person I'm trying to find.

I'm looking for her Great Grandmother's parents. I've ordered a marriage certificate and I believe the father's name is not correct as there is nothing that matches up with possible census records (e.g. Name and occupation).

I found a potential census record for 1861 of the G.Grandmother with a different father's name from the marriage certificate and that she may have had a sister.

I did a tree for the sister and a ancestry hint came up for a tree so i checked the DNA matches and i found that person's tree owner is also a DNA match (< 1% shared DNA: 36 cM across 4 segments)

Ancestry guesses 3rd cousin 2x removed or half 2nd cousin 3x removed which I know is a estimate

The problem is that my Grandmother's G.Grandfather's mother(bit long winded) had a sister who may be the mother of the G.Grandmother. (Potential cousin relationship)

My question is, Am I getting a match because of the G.Grandmother's sister or it is because of G.Grandfather' s mother + aunt?

The Common Room / I need some advise
« on: Sunday 16 November 25 23:34 GMT (UK)  »
I asked for help to find a Elizabeth Harris(Southall) a few months ago, I think I may have found her in the 1861 and 1871 census'.

This person had a sister called Eliza so I started during a family tree about her.

The question is, She married man with the surname Coles in the marriage registry records but on the census records and the children's birth records. The "S" disappears in the Coles surname.

Is that common or is it a different family?

The Common Room / Re: William James Turner, Herefordshire

Just adding more details  :)

In 1881 'James Turner' has place of birth as Herefordshire N.K. (not known) and his age as 37.

The James Turner you link to in 1861 gives a place of birth as Bishopston, Herefordshire age 17

I'm not 100% sure if that James is the ancestor but i'm going by an assumption it that is, however every census record after 1871 just stays Herefordshire and no other place such as parish , town or city

Thanks for the help, when it comes understanding DNA test results, I'm quite a novice.

When I searched in the AncestryDNA search filter. it was Turner and Herefordshire but maybe I'm going on the assumption but it could just coincidence.
