Australia / Re: zenus manning in victoria 1857-1862

Zenus/Zenas is transcribed as Tenus on Ancestry. He has a brother Joseph b 1818 married 1838 Essex.
Can't find any entries for either on 1841 and 1851 UK census although there could be gaps in these. Just trying to ascertain when Zenus left for Australia.. probably c 1852 when the Gold Rush started. In 1855 there is an entry (Vic Gov Gazette) for Mrs Manning and T S Manning: In 1857 same publication Zenus and Joseph. After 1864 there is no listing for Zenus at Hoddles Creek ( i believe the gold there wasn't as productive as they thought)
Can't find death entries in Vic or passenger list entry, although with the huge number of ships arriving c 1852 some lists are missing.(PROVic)
Sorry this is a little confused and you might already have this research but its always good practice to check everything! Also returning to England was not really a financial option for miners.

There is a Facebook page for Irymple Packing Company so a message on there might be helpful. The FB page is Lost Mildura and Sunraysia.
Also try Trove.nla.gov.au free newspapers online and narrow down to "Frank Nettleton" and Victoria.

Don't forget you can use www.trove.nla.gov.au for free newspapers that often have lots of interesting info of ancestors especially shenanigans!

From Trove.nla.gov.au
Patterdale departed Melbourne 24/12/1872 for San Francisco via Newcastle.

If his desertion is correct perhaps he just didn't board the ship before departure and hence was designated as a deserter. So he MAY have died in Dec 1872 or his date of death was given as the last time seen i.e. 24/12/1872. (Sorry if this isn't too clear!)
There are a couple of references to a Hugo King Fined for larceny from March 31 1884 (Vic Petty sessions) But doesn't prove its him.

Yes I see that.. it must be a transcription error but why has it listed his full name? According to probate he died 1872 place unknown.

Perhaps he died whilst in the Merchant Navy, at sea?

Ancestry.com.au
Death records England.
"Hugo Walton King  died Dec 1872 Whitehaven Cumberland Re No 10b437."
Also probate records:

Name   Hugo Walton King
Death Date   December 1872
Beneficiary's Name   Robert Dixon King
Event Type   Probate
Event Date   May 1883
Event Place

Cumberland, Cumberland, England, United Kingdom

Probably worth purchasing his death cert to confirm.

Australia / Re: Searching for the place of Burial of Sarah Ann Rogers in 1867

From Google search:

Stirling Cemetery is located at Strathalbyn Road, Bridgewater. It is situated on 7.54 hectares of land and was established in 1879.

So Sarah Anne could not be buried there.
