Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Re: St John, Tibshelf - Bingham
« on: Tuesday 30 September 25 18:04 BST (UK)  »
He married Hannah Boultby in 1760 at Blackwell by Alfreton, Derbyshire.  She is from Blackwell but I couldn't find any Bingham's there.  The reason I thought he might be from Tibshelf is because I found other Bingham's living there.

Welcome. Many thanks for the reply. William Otter and Ann were my third great grandparents. I come down through their daughter Martha Matilda.

Hello cousin!  :D.  I come down from Frederick William.

Do you know that your Francis was definitely born in tibshelf?
There's a Francis Bingham baptised 3 Feb 1735 in Tibshelf. Jonathan Bingham and Elizabeth parents.

Edited: oops ... That's the female Frances that Rosie was talking about 🙄

No, I'm not sure he was born in Tibshelf.  I hoped I could track him down to confirm who he farther was.

Tibshelf PR's are on Ancestry but the only Franc(I/E)s Bingham around that time was a girl  :)

Thanks, maybe he wasn't born in Tibshelf.

Bit late to this thread but I'm new here.  :)

William is my 2nd Great-grandfather and both he and Ann are buried separately in Ruskington Sleaford Road Cemetery.  Neither of them have gravestones.

I'm trying to confirm the parents of Francis Bingham born about 1734 I believe in Tibshelf.  I can't finf any Baptism records for Francis or any siblings.  I'm pretty sure Francis Bingham born 1711 in Tibshelf is the father but his mother is unknown.

All marriages above on FreeREG

Trish :)

I do love FreeReg, such a brilliant tool.  Thanks for this, I think Jonathan is definitely a strong candidate for the father of Elizabeth.

Very much a long shot, but could it actually be Costock, which is in Nottinghamshire but only about 2-miles from the Leicestershire border?

Thanks, this is definitely a possibility.  I'll explore these two possible parents.

I think birthplaces on the census can be a matter of potluck sometimes as it so much depended on the writing of the enumerator and the speech/accent and knowledge of the person who gave them the information  :-\

Kay

I'm finding that with surnames, likes Ainger.  :o They have very inventive ways of spelling that.  My ancestors appear to work on the land for the most part, so I guess reading and writing was not high on the list of important things to do.
